Update

Hallett in April was cancelled. No racing due to Covid until last weekend at the June Sprints at Road America. A new track to me. Won on Saturday and Sunday. Second place was the Lotus that finished second in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs. I was told the first place car, while legal last year, no longer is allowed in the STU class. Yea! Road America is an awesome FAST track. Average RPM was 7,000. Average speed over 98 mph.
Racer.com just named me the favorite for the 2020 Runoffs which will also be at Road America. Hope it is not a curse!
Back to Hallett in a week and a half. Then MidOhio and Road Atlanta in July.
The 86 is now fully developed (well almost). One more upgrade in the works.

Update. Won Hallett race #1 Saturday back in June. Pulled dry sump screen/filter after the race. Way too much metal so we parked it. Turning stock valve trains 8,000 rpm every shift floats valves and beats up retainer caps and spring seats. Much engine drama getting ready for the National Championship Runoffs at Road America in October. Ended up with a Used stock 2018 long block with my Edelbrock, dry sump and custom header. We pushed the engine to 8,200 every shift (yikes) and managed to qualify on pole! In the race I had a braking issue due to excessive front brake cooling on the monster straights at Road America. Long story but that really is a thing. Went off track as a result and fell to to 4th place. Came back and got 2nd. Shoulda..... BUT, it was good enough to win the 2020 Hoosier Super Tour National Championship in STU class! The 86 platform rocks! That engine is now out after 2 1/2 hours of torture. Finally getting a proper built motor in that we hope to rev to 8,500 all day long reliably. Anyone have experience with where the Edelbrock (stock pulleys) loses efficiency? At some point I expect we will create more heat than boost but we did not see it up to 8,000. 2021 here we come!
