I bought the 12 pack and if I recall correctly, it does have the Subaru logo and all that jazz (or at least has it printed on each filter). I'll try and take a closer look and see if its genuine, but not really sure who really manufactures them.

Just curious, I just hit 1000 mi (break-in done, yay!) and I feel the urge to change the oil (I hear my dad's voice in the back of my head), but Subaru actually doesn't recommend it until 7500 (3k if heavy use). Contacted my local dealer and their service guy was explaining to me that nowadays, manufacturers use special "break-in" fluid that should stay there until the first recommended service. Now, this is technically my first new car, so my BS meter isn't quite sure.

I'm curious as well, on my Jeep Wrangler I did the change at 1000 miles because other folks were finding a lot of metal in the filters after the first 1000 miles.

I have been reading here some are waiting until 3K, some 7500, some are changing it right away, some at 1000 miles...

This question would be easily resolved if someone would send their oil to blackstone for analysis.
