Mine survived a pretty bad money shift, it spun me. Went from 5th to second I was even taking it easy since it was an outlap.

100% Agreed.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I haven’t money shifted my old NB or my FK8 Type R yet !

Now I wait for the car market to cool, ideally next year! Otherwise it looks like I’ll be doing a 2.5 Duratech swap in a el cheapo NC miata

Company I work for has 3 NC's (Duratech swapped on Ohlins) that we drive at the track, they perform pretty equally to a similarly prepped 86.

From my research it seems like the engines don’t randomly blow up, unless you forget oil changes or mis shift.

Considering this won’t be a daily, I might be able to get away with leaving the torque dip alone. Those of you that tracked the car, with shift points in a HPDE/track day, do you regularly drop down to the torque dip rpm range ?

Engines did indeed blow up but it was a very specific group from a limited date range. If they haven't gone by now they are not likely to.

The dip looks horrible on paper but as long as you are in the right gear for what you want to do it has very little impact on actual driving. It is a 10% drop that lasts for a fraction of a second even at it's worst.

Well then I buy a 2028 Type R and make my 2020 into a track car instead of the FRS plan
