PTUNING Spec-SS Turbo System with GTX2867R option

We finally got around to testing a smaller turbo option for those looking for an ultra-quick responding turbo for street or track use, especially with the stock engine.

As most turbo enthusiasts know, there is no such thing as a one size fits all turbo choice. The power limit of this turbo is definitely lower than our standard GT3076R turbo. However, buyers will now be able to decide for themselves what turbo selection will suit their end goals.

We chose the GTX2867R turbo, because we felt that the powerband and power capability gap would be large enough from the GT3076R to make your selection much easier. We've tested the GTX3071R before and the powerband was nearly identical to that of the GT3076R, so we'll likely not be testing any more turbo options that sit between the two current turbo options.

For those wanting a GTX3582R or a turbo that sits between the two that we offer, we'd be more than happy to install and tune it for you.

Now for the dyno graphs. BTW, we're not really surprised at the results. This turbo spools up super fast with our turbo system and has ultra-quick transient response. The only downside is that low 400's whp is about the limit of this small turbo vs 450-500whp for the standard GT3076R. Unfortunately, you cannot have your cake and eat it too, but the option is now available.

93 Octane Tune (E9)
Notes: Tuned for around 10.5-11.0 psi peak. Also, the car made 338whp on 9psi and E26

E64 Tune.
Notes: The turbo is pretty much maxed out at just 14.5psi at redline. We could have made a bit more power on E85, but it's difficult to find in Northern Virginia. The powerband is pretty ridiculous. We're already at 200WTQ by 2,500rpms and 240WTQ by 3k rpms. Lastly, if a customer wanted to, it would be possible to target more boost in the midrange for even more torque. We didn't do this since we're still running a STG1 clutch will slip past 310WTQ. Also, it was around 1:30am and we were all tired and done for the day. LOL

Yes, we'll be offering this option for existing customers. The good thing is that the package will only need to include a different turbo/trans mounting bracket, lower intake tube (3" inlet), compressor discharge hose, and of course the turbo. Everything else will bolt right up.

Should I be expecting ~260-270 whp at 6-7 psi on the gtx2867r on 93 octane? The power and torque curves look beautiful with the 10.5 psi, but I'm not looking to change out the clutch and add other supporting mods just yet. Better question is, do you have a more conservative tune on 93 for this set up?

E10 is standard across the US, so you can have your tuner tone down the tq until you decide it's worth it to replace the clutch.

Glad to see you finally have a smaller turbo option, and definitely the right size turbo.

Price will be $250 more for the GTX2867R option vs base GT3076R.
