In fact the BRZ is up 40%. (3,091 units 2023 vs 2,019 units 2022), while the GT86 is down a bit (7,777 vs 8,826)
I don't know where the gt86's are going but it isn't canada. I have only seen two come through in the last 12 months. Got a BRZ cause the dealer gets a couple every month. really disappointed with toyota |

Toyota seems to be having struggles across the boad. My local dealership hasn't had any meaningful inventory for over a year now while the other dealerships seem to be doing OK.
There has been an interesting change in my area. I don't live in a very sports car friendly area, so my '22 BRZ was the only second gen car around for nearly a year. Suddenly, this summer I've started seeing second gen cars on the road and they are all Toyota's. At our local autocross it was similar. Last year there were only 2 BRZ's and we ran in the same class. This season, there are still only 2 BRZ's but there have been 4~5 GR86's on hand at several events. |

If Toyota could supply the GR86's I'm sure the numbers would be up.

Just 178 sales (BRZ, not 86) in April... from roughly 500 April of last year! AutoTrader shows 69 Man and 0 Auto sitting in dealers, perhaps some are customer orders/sold already. But these numbers are just sad.

To me, it seems like Subaru has let the world forget the BRZ even exists. I don't recall ever seeing a single add or media product after the initial blitz when the cars hit the market. Today, when the twins are discussed, only the GR86 gets mentioned. In magazines, car reviews, video's etc. Toyota's marketing team is really pushing the car as a member of it's GR family. You get crickets from Subaru. I had a co-worker the other day say something like, "Subaru makes a sports car? And it isn't AWD?" That's rather telling... What does surprise me is considering how much better the sales experience with Subaru seems to be over Toyota, that people in the "know" aren't flocking to Subaru to avoid the mark-ups and other nonsense. Maybe all talk of the GR86 being the "better" twin is keeping them away. |

What do you guys expect? How many folks in America want a relatively low power, small coupe especially when the formula is now 12+ years old.. 2nd gen was really to shut a small vocal minority up who wanted more power and were happy with the extra bump but the majority of folks who wanted "real power" ended up going elsewhere at this point..
The C8 has been easily outselling the twins + supra + z + miata combined... car market is a weird place because I would much prefer to have all of those with a stick over a C8. |

I think there is still some interest.
When I go to Cars and Coffee events, the number of 2nd gen twins is growing pretty rapidly, especially this year. But they are all Toyotas. When I drive at autocross events, the people in Twins get quite a few Miata owners wanting to take a look because they want a Miata-like car with a hard top and more interior room than an RF. They are looking for something that makes a more practical daily driver. Even if the back seats are useless, there is still better trunk and interior space. Anecdotally I see a Twin several times a day between the two gens, but only see a single Supra. Corvettes/Mustangs/Challengers are a different story, but that's because I live in a pocket of Big-3 automaker land where anything they build will far surpass everything else due to generational brand loyalty. |

I don't see very many twins, 1st or 2nd gen. But I live in the land of trucks .

Just another recent observation: I work in a large campus-like environment with a pretty large number of people. For the last two years, my 2nd gen Twin was the only one I've ever seen. There area few first gens running around, but never a second. In the week I've spotted two new ones (1x GR and 1x Subie), both with temp tags, and seen one or two new ones consistently every morning on my drive to work. In this land of trucks and SUV's it's a pretty significant uptick in consistent spottings. I'm sure the stats are correct, but anecdotally, there seems to be a lot more on the road this Spring than any time before. |

Apparently Nissan sells even fewer Z's.... I do see a few BRZ/GR around my area (SoCal) but I have never ever seen a Z! (Not complaining mind you, ugly face :-)

Same general area as you. I have only seen 1 new Z on the streets since they've come out, and I commute 75 miles every weekday...not a good sign |
