SERIES 10 FR-S Fog Light Kit

Ishii Motor Industries now has a Fog light Kit for the Scion SERIES 10 FR-S

These kits Consist of OEM Parts.
Kit includes:
Right and Left Fog Light Bezels,
2 Glass lens H11 Fog lamps,
Turn Signal Stalk with Fog Light Switch,
Mounting hardware,
JDM 86 type Wiring with legal operation of Fog Lamps
When the fog lights are on there will be an indicator light on the dash letting you know they are on.

This kit is a complete plug and play. No funny mess of aftermarket fog lamp wiring.
Wired just as a Japanese Toyota 86.

The Headlamp/turn signal stalk has the Auto position that the Series 10 utilizes

Here are some facts on this kit:
You can only use it with 55W H11 bulbs. (55W max)
The system works in a legal fashion only.
The fog lights can only turn on with the headlamps on. They will turn off when you switch to high beam.
If you want HID you will need a HID kit that has a relay harness to draw power directly from the battery.

Installation requires removal of the Airbag to install the headlamp/turn signal stalk.
Rec. Installation by a professional

***As there is a limited supply of parts for this kit;
we ask that you send back the turn signal harnesses that are replaced when installing this kit.

Included in the kit package will be a small box to mail us back the turn signal harnesses.
This is a USPS Flat rate box that can be dropped of at any post office***
This kit has no applicable Manufacturer Warranty

Kit Price is $365.00

Difference between our kit and the Scion OEM kit.

Good Question.

First I feel the difference between Maker option and Dealer Option must be explained.
Maker option is any optional equipment that is only put into the car at the assembly plant.
Dealer Option is any optional equipment that can be installed at any time at either the Port or at a dealership.
In General Maker option is of higher quality and fitment.

With that said, the Scion OEM fog light kit is a Dealer Option part.
Now that I've seen the Scion OEM kit I can tell that the kit I supply is similar to a Maker Option.

Fog light housing Differences
It appears the Scion OEM kit comes with fog light housings that have more reflector lines in them unlike the more smooth ones that I supply.

Fog light mounting Differences
I don't know why but the Scion OEM kit comes with these silly brackets for mounting the fog lights to the bumper.

The Scion OEM kit only uses these brackets.
The JDM 86, BRZ and Export model BRZ all mount the fog lights in a different way. Out kit uses the Exact same hardware for mounting the fog light housings to the bumper as the original JDM 86 and all BRZ.

Now I say the Scion OEM kit is silly because you would have to remove the front bezel to remove the fog light with any ease. Whereas the Original Equipment (JDM 86, BRZ and our kit) you can unscrew the fog light and remove it from inside the bumper without removing the bezel, just as our kit.

SWITCH Differences
The OEM kit comes with a switch that mounts on the lower left of the dash panel.
Our kit comes with a replacement turn signal stalk (more like a Maker Option).

Harness Differences
The harness that comes in the Scion OEM kit is not plug and play. The way it wires in is just like most Dealer option parts. It is not plug and play.

The way the wire harness assembly on the Scion OEM kit comes appears that it is made outside of Japan.
Our wire harness is made like the JDM 86 harness.

Hi Ishii

Seems like your pdf link doesn't work for me.

Just curious - I saw that your other post on the "normal" FRS foglight kit is $375 with installation; does the $365 here come with install?

Where are you located? I wouldn't mind driving down to your location to avoid having to ship the thing across the border.

Do you know how to:
A. make it so the amber lights only come on during turning?
B. Have the LED DRLs running all the time (even with the headlamps on)?

Thanks!

For you guys looking at this install, I just called Ishii since I hadn't received an answer back via this forum or via email. Apparently they are very busy over the summer months and they apologized for the delayed response.

Here is some additional information (as per Kim who I talked to over the phone):
1. $365 for the foglights COMES with installation (good deal I think)
2. Installation normally takes about 2 hours
3. They don't book appointments on the weekend
4. They haven't figured out how to have only the amber lights come on during turning
5. Haven't figured out how to have DRLs running all the time
6. You can actually order the foglight kit and have your local Toyota dealer install them for you. Ishii Motors will send instructions to your dealer to do so.
7. This kit is DOT approved

I drove down to Ishii on friday to get these installed.

For anyone who is considering doing this and don't want to mess about with the airbag I would definitely recommend getting Ishii to do this for you.

It was nice to have the shop with a waiting room with couch and TV, a lunch room type thing nearby, and lots of places nearby to go eat. Also somewhat reassuring to see pictures of some of his past projects/achievements, Initial D memorbilia scattered throughout the place, and a fire extinguisher holder in Japanese that he had brought back home with him.

Stephen Ishii was a good guy, and took the time to explain to me exactly what I he had done. When I asked if he could set up the wiring such that the ambers only turn on during signalling (which he warned me was illegal in WA), he was able to look up some Japanese manual, and quickly set this up. He even showed me how to reverse this in case I was told by the authorities to fix it.

He hasn't figured out how to keep the LEDs on however.

Afterwards, we had a nice chat about the car and he showed me some of his ongoing projects. Nice to see a guy really care about his customers.

@Ishii - if you figure out the LEDs let me know!

Hold up, doesn't installing your own fog lights hurt your warranty??

Speaking of this I noticed a while ago that there is an almost identical indicator on the right side as well. Could that be for the rear fog lamp if the car is equipped with it?
