FRS in SCCA Autocross Events vs.....

Well this will be my last season racing the wife's TC in SCCA Solo events and next season I will be competing with the FR-S both in Solo events and time-attack track days. I can't wait!

According the SCCA, the FR-S and BRZ have been placed in the C - Stock class for stock competition. Pretty competitive and here locally, the new, MX-5s have been really tough to beat. Here is a list of the other cars in that class. What do you all feel about how competitive the FR-S will be?

There is a long thread in the autocross forum about stock class. The top cars the last few years have been the Solstice Z0K and the MX5 MSR. The MSR and the Z0K are low run editions of the cars that are lightened and have very tuned suspensions stock. There was a proposal to move those cars out of CS which did not go through.

I think the cars should be competitive but I do not think they are capable of beating a Z0K or MSR in the hands of a capable driver. The 370Z has also shown to be fast on faster courses where it can put its horsepower advantage to good use.

At nationals this year there was one BRZ in CS and it did well IMHO with the top driver I believe never having driven one before and it was not fully prepped. It had a trophy position after the first day.

Nationally, the general consensus is it won't be able to keep up with the rare ZOK package Solstices and MSR package MX-5s. Outside of that, they should be competitive with the normal Sky/Solstice, MX-5, and 370z.

Locally, it should have no problem winning with a good driver. None of the really "fast" drivers in Huntsville are running CS that I know of. Is this also your first season? I ran down there quite a bit last season and don't remember seeing a TC. I haven't been much this year because of school, but I normally run in Nashville & Chattanooga. I'm strongly considering buying a BRZ next year for STX. Hoosiers don't agree very well with the Huntsville pavement/gravel, so I'm looking forward to getting back to street tires.
