a little help please... i'm planning to upgrade my tires/wheels. i'm deciding between the two: Konig Wheel 1N78T04456 Konig Incident 18X7.5 5X100/ 114.3 ET45 Graphite Wheel and Konig Wheel EX8851035S Konig Exhale 18X8 5X100 ET35 Dark Silver Machine Face Wheel
what about the recommended wheel lug nuts? what are my options for my tires' setting, brand included. i hope it won't decrease more than an inch for my clearance. thanks in advance! |

Check this site out: http://www.willtheyfit.com It'll let you play with the wheel and tire sizes so that you can get a rough idea of how different sizes affect fitment and clearances. Once you've got a tire size you're happy with, I recommend plugging the size in tirerack.com to do a quick search of what brands offer tires in the size you want. Finally, I hear a lot of good things bout McGard lug nuts. Hope that helps!

@Duo, i had mine done by a seller in Sulit.. Don Euro something.. though sticker lang siya and the base is an aluminum plate.. hassle lang yung butas for the screws ng front and rear ng 86 is not the same so i had to do some minor modifications for it to fit at the back
you can try Souq Customs, alam ko maganda talaga ang gawa nila though it takes awhile and a little pricey.. i cant remember how much it cost me pero di naman aabot ng 2k even yung kay Souq Customs ako naman, i think sulit siya because the ones that came from Toyota Pasig is parang madali masira and they got it wrong also.. and with the delays in producing the plates, baka umabot ng 1 year din to sakin.. and it looks way nicer compared to the ones given by the casa @pearlhatchiroku, yep, di ako nag donuts.. enough na sakin manuod btw, the brz you're referring to is my friend's si @BRZ68, its dark gray actually.. ganda nga ng stance niya and love the color of his rims @rockers_kitoy, i'd probably recommend Rota than Konig and for the lugnuts, you cant go wrong with Kyoei.. for tires, are you going staggered or squared? |

Hi guys,
My SA advised that ill get my unit 1st week of jan! yay. This will be the first car that i will setup so i have zero knowledge besides driving it hehe. I have a few questions. Regarding tires and mags. Been backreading bit but cant seem to get what size to get. Planning on getting 18" but i dont have the budget to get original rays. Are the rays reps sold in garageone reliable naman? compared to rotas? What tires(reliable cheap brand) should i pair with an 18" mags? can you give me the specific size on what's best for the 86? Also, do i need lowering springs or coilovers when i change to 18" wheels? Im avoiding lowering the car due to the parking in my house and large speed bumps and avoiding spending too much. Lastly, what shops can you recommend that carries trd ducktail that is close to the original one? or fibers. TIA and Merry X-Mas! Last edited by Vinspin; 12-23-2013 at 04:20 AM. |

@Vinspin, for TRD spoilers, you can check Automozmetix, they have those.. you can also check out GEC Parts, just search for it in FB.. baka cheaper since he's just selling online
for tires, there are a couple of budget tires that performs well.. one is Achilles 123.. once my current tires needs to be replaced, im going for that naman.. less than 25k for a set, 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 ang size im using Nitto NT05, ok naman and minimal road noise pero i got it for 45k.. for track use, after a couple of laps, it loses traction already for rims, i'd personally still go for Rota over other copies, safe choice eh goodluck and congrats in advance sa car mo

@Vinspin, for 18's, you have to decide if you want a square setup or staggered setup. Square setup means all four wheels are of the same width. Staggered setup means the fronts are narrower than the rear wheels. For 86/BRZs, a good width would be 8.5 to 9.5. With offsets from 45-38. The lower the offset, the farther from the hub or the wheels poke more out of the fender. For an 8.5 wheel, a 225-235 width tire would be good. For a 9.5, a 245-265 tire will do. A narrower(245) tire would stretch more than a wider one(265) when mounted on a 9.5 wheel. Some people want the stretched look and some want the meaty look. It depends on you.
For tires, Achilles 123s are a good set of tires which give really great traction on dry, and give good performance on wet roads. Guys who I track with have tested and proven the 123s. Most of us who track our cars have the 123s installed. A good tire for its price!

Everytime you change the ride height of your car, you have to get your alignment checked. Also because you have changed the suspension components on your car, I'm sure it will be out of spec. I suggest you have it checked.
