Ahh, makes more sense. I read "start and stop" as engine start and stop. Was worried how expensive that boom would be.

The good news is it sounds like the next model year or so will have a revised/beefed up CV, hopefully we can retrofit it:

Noob here planning my first season into autocross. I am not sure if I am in the stx class, maybe someone can help me out.
Current mods=
Coilovers with camber plates
1 set of camber bolts
Catless header
Drop in filter
Open flash tablet
18x9.5 +34 wheels
Removed spare tire and tools/tray from the trunk.
Sti replica front lip

Future mods
Side skirts and rear spats
Aftermarket lip spoiler or sti gurney flap
17x9 +35 wheels
245/40-17 tires 200tw RS3 probably
Light weight battery
Some kind of rear camber correction, I know that lca's need bushings and spherical are not allowed. whiteline upper bushings?(how much correction does it give?)
Possibly a catback or a track pipe, I will be keeping the header on the midpipe.
Possibly the over pipe or delete the resonator on the midpipe

Anything else I should do or look into?
Am I in stx?
Maybe someone in the so-cal area willing to take me under their wing or maybe just pit together?
Thanks!

Max Wheel Width in STX is 9". With your current wheels, you are not legal for STX. However, with your planned wheels you are legal.

Also, per the SCCA rulebook, aero mods are not allowed in STX. However, this one depends on the local region, as some regions may allow this modification.

For the exhaust, you must maintain one catalytic converter no farther than 6" downstream of the cat in the OEM Front Pipe.

Everything else is legal in STX.

couple of things..
-Be careful on what header/overpipe/catback you use. There is a sound limit for most venues. so the combination of these components may or may not be sound legal.
-Since its your first year, I highly suggest as much seat time as possible.
-We have A BUNCH of experts here that can help you with your build. You will have further questions, which is normal. The Good news here is you are seeking advise 'before' you build. which is good to know when applying the STX ruleset. You would be amazed about how many people throw parts on a car and just sorta land where they may when it comes to classing.
couple of things... Come up with a Budget of how much you want to put into your build, then prioritize what is important to get the car competitive. A full National level STX Build from Stock could easily get to $15-20k if you let it.
-the level of build that you want will also be imperative to level of competition you are wanting to compete with. IE: are you looking to do a full National level build?? or are you just wanting to be competitive locally.??? key questions. If you just doing something locally then your budget might be a bit different. There is basically 3 levels of competition. 1) Local Club, 2) Regional Level, 3) Full National level...

hope that helps. good luck.

Suggested Build Order?

Last year I ran my first season of AutoX in a stock class Miata.

This year I am running the BRZ in STX

Current:
17x9 ET35 rpf1's 245/40/17 RS3's
Eibach proline lowering springs
corsa catback
Now I do fairly well with the car as is, but not as well as I'd like..
Long term I plan on header, coilovers (undecided on which but budgeting 3-4K$ CDN for them)
sways, OFT, possibly LCA's.

Budget won't permit coils or the header this summer likely so I'd like to maximize what I can for this season.

Where would you spend your money first...?

At the event this past weekend the car didn't rotate as well as I'd like, not sure I can blame all of that on the driver...

Front swaybar, camber bolts, and alignment.

Suspension will gain more time than power usually. so I would invest in Suspension first. then worry about the power stuff later.

As Stated above Suspension and tires will find you the most time on course.

Coilover option bang for buck are the Feal 441's if you have more money to spend go with the KW V3's or RCE's
Front bar and Bushings are Whiteline only.

When you max out that then comes power.
Power wise I am Nameless Performance all the way.

But not enough camber on the front I believe (though no more room with existing suspension and wheels)

Guess I need to shop for sways

My budget is pretty limited. So at this point I am going to do a few more things and just get seat time.

I have feal 441's already yay, I went with 7k/7k rates. Shocks set currently at 18f/20r (1stiffest/30 softest).

1. pads that I can daily looking a winmax w3/w4, project mu hc+800 one of those and motul rbf 600 fluid.
2. 17x9 +35 wheels and 245/40-17 tires, rs3's probably.
3. Adjustable front sway bar. whiteline? strano?(not adjustable?) hotchiks? suggestions? can the endlinks be spherical type?
4. something to dial out some camber in the rear, options?

I think that is most of it. Suggestions?
It's going to be my first season so I guess I am shooting for local events and getting seat time.

You didn't mention the overwhelming proportion of gains to be found in the driver?

I will get better. I will get better. I will get better.

(Suspension done, excuses gone... I will get better!)

For AutoX I've had the W2 recommended for its improved cold bite. Or AX6.

What's camber up front look like? I'd go -2.5F/-2R minimum, but... I may have gone overboard with mine RacerX, RS-R are the two LCA makers that come to mind and are available that are STX legal. Whiteline was, I think Truhart too? I can't recommend the cheap option but many are happy with it.

Im at 2.9 camber front and rear. Trying to get to 1.8-2.0 or so in the rear. 0 toe front .04 toe in rear.

Are aftermarket side skirts/steps, rear spats and lip spoiler legal? worried about aero rules.

Anyone have direct link to stx class rules? what is the other name for it? street XXXXX?
