I hope that the guys who have worked together for 30 years can call their colleagues to "chew the fat". I can't even do that as I didn't even get a chance to meet people in person. Tell a lie, I met 2 people on my first day in the office and both have left the company.

I reach out to colleagues via Teams and they just want to know why I've called? Is there a problem and if there is no problems then why am I disturbing them!! Very weird behaviour!!

Did they ever find someone that could manage you?

Toys I had growing up that I completely forgot about until 45 seconds ago. Hand-me-downs from my older brother.

No. The running joke was that I was unmanageable.

My 12th manager stuck around because he didn't GAF about managing and just wanted to go do engineer things. He had 3 direct reports (people) in his group that went down to just me in 2 months. It was kinda funny because he was his managers only direct report so we had 3 levels of one person at each level. #12 left 2 months before I did. I defaulted to his manager who left 2 months after I did.

Fun place to be, but oh boy was upper management and HR clueless, and nobody else really had any power to fix things. I describe it as a great company to work at, terrible company to work for.

That was one of my favorite cartoons back in the day.

Hahah that last bit perfectly describes my last job.

Similar thing happened to my team in the middle. We "temporarily" had the skip-level manager as our manager for a full year.

That was both good and terribly bad.

On the one hand he knew way more about our work than the previous managers and even the one we ended up hiring (who stayed for less than a year and left 2 months after I did, lol). But on the other it meant he was way hands off because he had higher priority stuff constantly going on and we could really screw around if we wanted.

Fun fact: that last manager who stayed only 8 months or so and left 2 months after me? He joined the same IT megacorp I'm at, but many internal organizations separate us. lol.

I feel like I remember seeing this when I was really little. Still and interesting looking show considering all the garbage out there today.
