Brembo GT Brakes are LOUD! Any other Brembo GT users have experience?
I installed the Brembo GT brake kits front and rear on my car a few months ago. As soon as I installed them, I noticed they squealed very loudly when applying medium pedal pressure. I figured the noise was just because they were new pads and it would subside over time. It has been several months now and ~500 miles, but they are just as loud as ever. I know they are racing brakes, but the squeal is very loud. I am sure other cars on the road can notice.
I found this video where they apply grease to the shims on the Brembos on a Scat Pack to make the noise go away: I didn't apply any grease during installation. I guess I assumed it would already be greased because the calipers/pads/etc came per-assembled. However, I am not sure this should even be necessary. The noise coming from the Scat Pack Brembo's is not nearly as loud as mine. I contacted CSG and they said it is the pads. They suggested switching to Project Mu Type-PS pads to reduce the NVH. But they noted that these pads will have considerably less performance than the currently installed Brembo pads. This is not a track car, it is my daily and I do a few Auto-X events per year with it. So I am concerned about performance, specifically initial bite, so I would rather not have to downgrade the pads if I don't have to. I know the Brembo GT kits are popular here. Do any other users have experience with this issue? Did you apply grease to the pads/shims? Did the noise eventually go away? Pics for attention: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did you bed in the pads properly after the initial install?

What pads are you on now? Some are just loud no matter what you do.

Does it only happen while they're cold or even after several miles / minutes of driving + braking?

Looking over the manual, it suggests 20 60mph - 20mph stops and 10 stops from 80 mph. I only did a handful of ~60mph - ~20mph stops after initial installation. I can try and follow the full procedure and see if it helps. It is difficult to find somewhere to attempt this around here. Hopefully it is not too late. It seems worse when they are cold but the squeal persists after prolonged driving. It does not help that it has been winter up here the entire time they have been installed. |

My guess is the cold affects it too. My brembos with endless pads definitely make noise for longer this time of year and this is California. During warmer months it depends on if the brakes have been in the sun or not.

Assuming its the CSG spec GT (1H4.6005A I think?). Then the CSG Spec CP pads are supposed to be comparable to the Fedoro DS2500.

It is not "too late" by any means, you can try the bedding process again at your leisure. However, I agree with your assessment, it'll be tricky to find a place where you can safely do those 80 to ~5 stops. Also, it's kinda nerve wracking since you're supposed to brake extremely aggressively, just before the point of engaging ABS. Many people aren't comfortable braking that hard and feeling the forces. IMO, and speaking from experience, it can be kinda disconcerting. Anyway keep us updated if you decide to give the bedding a go or switch up the pads.
