It happens just with polarized sunglasses and from what I read it is there with ceramic too but I think I'll take your advice and go check it out in person. |

Just FYI, I took my dad's 2500 to Tahoe and his rear windows are tinted but no rainbows with the glasses. I feel like his tint must not be ceramic or metalic--just died. Definitely need to talk with my tinter when I get back in town.

20% tint all around, and I got a fix it ticket today for the front windows being tinted, and for having my license plates covered, even though they are covered with clear plastic.

Can anyone confirm 100% that there is factory coloring/tinting to the glass on all models? These pdfs don't agree; i.e., the 2013 doesn't mention uv/green glass or which windows have it.
Also, if there is glass, which windows have it and how much uv does it block? Is it worth it to get something Llumar's clear tint to get 99% uv blocking and the heat rejection properties? EDIT: Also Tcoat was kind enough to post a thread answering this question, except in the link the guy said 90% tint, and in that thread was a link to a thread that had everyone saying 70-75%. Just wanting to clarify. Last edited by Irace86; 04-09-2016 at 01:10 AM. |

Almost positive they all have some sort of tint from factory. Its not much but it is something. I had 15% put on all around and its probably closer to 10%. Been pulled over for speeding and the cop said it was a little dark but it looked good and he said he wasn't going to be that guy that wrote a ticket over tint Lucked out! Its pretty dark though, i will try and take a pic tom and throw it up here.

Anyone have tints on just the quarter panel? I was thinking of blackening and wondering if that would look good.

Looks like there is already UV blocking properties, but heat rejection is also what I would like, so I might consider adding the Llumar Air 80 to the windshield and side windows. I really hate the two toned look, but that should be better than nothing. I asked a few cops that stopped by the hospital today, and they said unless the guy is being a ****, if they can easily see you it should be fine. |

I'm getting my CWP '17 next month. Trying to decide if I should tint it. $300 doesn't sound too bad. How's the quality? Might try for a place closer to the South Bay though.

@spike021 Quality seems to be good, tint goes to the edges fairly well. Although it had lots of bubbles on the back window right after it was done, I was told that they should go away in a few days. Since I only had this done yesterday, can't say too much about that yet.
I had the choice between llumar ctx and 3m color stable and some other brand. Darkness aside, the color stable is definitely more "black" looking from the outside compared to the CTX, which is more of a dark charcoal/smoked black look. |

I had my car tinted this weekend. 35% MaXPro sides and back. I removed the top of the third brake so he could get the tint behind the light. cost me $150.

Looks great! I was wondering what 35% would look like.

Hey guys,
I'm planning to get my windows tinted soon, but I'm debating between 35% all around vs. 50%. As I'm getting older, I don't really like the look of overly dark windows. It might attract the wrong attention, and I don't want visibility issues at night. Tinted windows do look good, but my bigger concern now is keeping the heat out and protecting the interior. The place I'm going to uses 3M. Based on the chart that @swarb posted (thanks for that), the solar energy rejected is 56% for CR50, and 60% for CR40. If I'm reading this right, there wouldn't be that much improvement in solar rejection by doing 35%. Anyone else struggle with this decision? Which did you end up going with? Any regrets? Thanks. |
