Possible Solution for Shifter Rattle Noise

I know there are many members who were burdened by the rattling noise from the shifter including myself and there could be a possibile solution. Well, at least for me, it was!

After 8 years of ownership of my FR-S, I just found out that this noise was not from the shifter at all lmao. 😳
The noise was from the stereo unit. To be specific, it was from audio source selection button. See the attached image and check for yourself next time you drive. When the noise occurs, simply touch the button to hold from rattling to see if the noise stops.

I know this may not be the solution for all, but I wish this helps for some of the members here at least.

I had a rattle coming from the drivers side speaker. Took the door card off and put foam to isolate the speaker from the door. Put everything back together and still had the rattle. Found out a couple weeks later the rattle was actually coming from the garage door opener I had clipped to the door. Moved it to the center console.
Solved.

What Im trying to say is that the noise turns out to be not from a shifter at all since the beginning for me. I thought it was a shifter rattling noise until now. Like I said, this may not be the same case for you, but one of my two coworkers who own frs/brz confirmed that the source of the noise was from the head unit as well.

My point was it could've never been the shifter noise at all while many people thought it was from the shifter.

I know, but it was the noise I thought from the shifter all the time. After took out the head unit for test drive, there is no rattling noise at all. The shifter still shakes, but no noise.

Hi everyone I just bought a 2018 gt 86 and ever since I got it, there sounds like something is loose or bouncing around. I dont think its coming from the shifter but its around that general area underneath between the driver and passenger seats. I really only hear it when I am going slow in a lower gear. I dont hear it when im driving normally and cruising. I wanted to get yalls opinion on it. Here is a video of the noise.
