Looks like the BFGoodrich Rival S 1.5 is still king of the hill over the Advan A052. The A052 seems to wear much faster than the Rival S 1.5 as well.

It was strange to me he rated the RS4 as comparable as I did not think it felt like the Z3 at all and I didn't like it that much. Now that I think about it the braking on the RT660 was very good and easy to modulate. I haven't got to run these on a track I am familiar with yet, but I was pretty impressed with them.

Results showing Rival faster than A052 are surprising to me, but maybe they've been quietly improving it over the years. Meanwhile I bought a set of 245/40-17 Nankang CR-1s and a set of 235/45-17 A052 for time trials this year, if I have budget left I might try the Rival S 1.5 before end of year! My experience with the RE71R is that they were very good here in the PNW during Spring and Fall. But if run close to or above 80F ambient, I could kill them in a single track day.
They were a good tool that allowed me to play with GT3’s and GT4’s (I’m a PCA national instructor) running CCW at ORP. But due to the rapid wear, I couldn’t afford to continue running them. They also seemed to camber wear more than any other tire I’ve used. A student that I right seated with recently had the Azenis. He also made the comment that they were comparable to the RE71R. But long before I finished the day with him, I thought “These are no RE71R’s.” |

The 660s are close to re71s but not quite there. Yoko AO52s are your closest comparable

Great comparison. Keep in mind the Rival S 1.5 are just about the worst 200TW tire in the wet. I've run RE71R, A052 and the Rival 1.5's and really like them all, but I'm way more comfortable running the RE71R or even the A052's in the wet.

It was funny to see vid that best results in wet people got using tires like MPS4S even on eg. supercars like mclaren's .. i have strong suspicion, that regarding these particular tires tested it's less about which is best in wet, more about, which sucks less in wet.

But they won't suffer from eg. excessive cooling off driving through puddles? Or compound of these tires doesn't need to be brought upto temps?
