Wow. Surprised at the hate. I thought it looks great and is a nice step up from the current A Spec line that I like as well. I know it's not production but seems close enough.

It is confirmed that there will be a TLX Type S along with one other model. TLX test mule has already been spotted.

As long as Acura rehashes FWD Honda’s I won’t be interested.

While text can make it appear that you have some validity in saying that in the far post mercury world merc now means mercedes, pronunciation supports Tcoat on this one.

'merc' if short for mercedes would be pronounced 'mers'
Has anyone anywhere ever heard a mercedes referred to as a mers?

Ok, so I think this is fair...

Merc = Mercury
Merse = Mercedes

But... to anyone above the age of gender neutering, a merse will always be a man purse not a car.

Due to the fact that Mercedes is indeed a name, pronunciation can be and will be different among different individuals.

Using BMW as an example, they have many slang and or AKA names, to name a couple: Bimmer, Beemer, Bim.

All three of the above names have nothing in common with the actual name of B.M.W. pronunciation wise, which is Bavarian Motor Works.

So to debunk, while pronunciation of 'Merc' may hold more true to Mercury as opposed to Mercedes Benz, the fact that pronunciation alone is being used to disqualify Mercedes Benz from being known as a 'Merc' is NOT valid.

Bimmer is for the bmw cars and Beemer is for the bmw bikes. These weren't slang, but the correct usage to refer to one vs the other. There is a whole bunch of documentation on it, but I forgot the details. People often use them interchangeably, but that just means they are using them wrong.

Although an interesting fact, this still does not prove that Bimmer or Beemer are anything more than an alternate unofficial name used to refer to BMW as a whole, despite which vehicle type it is being applied to.
