Why? Because we have border patrol smog sniffing dogs, that just love to mark (pee on) the tires of California cars that have their smog features disabled. Then, you have two choices, either turn that POS around and head back down south, OR pull into Bubba's Catalytic Converter Sales and Service shop and have new cats installed ....... at a PRICE ...... iffen ya get ma drift ......price () ....... humfrz |

It's different from the FR-S where you almost have to wind it out sometimes. But that's the fun of driving it right?

Sure, it's making more torque but the way it drops instead of builds is disappointing when driving it.

I don't have torque dip after the boost but I wasn't complaining when I had it. The car has a different power/torque band now and it needs to be driven differently just like the stock engine needed its specific driving style with the torque dip. So, torque dip was not a big issue for me and its elimination is not the most significant advantage of boost. I have chosen JRSC, to keep the rev-happy nature of the sports car driving. If you agree, torque dip is not a big problem anyway.

still don't see the point in worrying about this on a car that is driven on the street. Unless we all get lucky and the epa and carb are both completely closed, someone is going to end up being the first unlucky victim of the nanny state morons going after all these people that alter their cats. It is only a matter of time, because any alteration of any functional cats is illegal.

Torque-dip ruined my life. My wife left me, my kids hate me and my friends stopped calling. They couldn't bare to be around anyone that would leave their FRS in stock form and do nothing to address torque dip.

Some months ago I had the chance to drive a similar engine of the VW group. I had the same feeling, very good at the low-mid revs range and gutless on higher revs. |

After an EZ30-powered Impreza and a 4.2L RS4... The torque dip was super noticeable. OFT OTS to the rescue, but some kind of FI is planned (either that or I'll give up and go EZ30 again)

I've got a stock 2011 GTI and I can definitely feel the acceleration taper off above 5000 RPM. It's especially apparent going uphill. You can see it in the stock dyno chart as well. The torque curve drops over 40 lbs-ft starting at 5000 RPM.
[/QUOTE] My previous car was a 02 Audi A4 with the 1.8t motor and I can tell you that with it and any car that comes turbocharged from the factory that isn't a dedicated sports car (IE- 911 Turbo, GT-R, etc) The torque and power will always die off at the top. Car manufacturers use the smallest turbo possible to minimize spool time and give it a nice punchy low to mid torque so the average consumer is like "OH MY CAR IS FASTTTTTT" When in reality it is not. The pull all the way to redline is one of my favorite thing about my FRS. It is so much more exciting than a mid range torque shove.
