Finally installed my OFH and flashed to stage 2. During my first test drive IAM didn't budge from 1 and AFRs looked good. However, my LTFTs were super high at times. As high as 35% at idle, and 25% cruising at 2k - 3.5k RPMs. When I let off the throttle and coasted at speed LTFT would always return to 18.75%. Strangely when I got on the throttle 3500+ RPMs, LFTF would drop to single digits or even zero out. Any ideas what could be causing these abnormally high LTFTs? I'm driving a 6AT if it matters. Thanks.

changed intake
intake air leak
exhaust air leak neat 02 sensors

did you use new gaskets for header install
did o2 sensors screw in easily, you shouls rearly use thread chaser to clean threaads in header.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. I've found your OFT Tips thread very helpful. I didn't change my intake, and did use new gaskets to install the OFH. However, I had considerable trouble screwing in the O2 sensor farthest on the passenger-side. I'll look at that one again and log again tomorrow. Thanks again.

Automatics also have much higher gear ratios than manuals, so a change in final drive will give much better pickup in the lower gears, while still getting decent economy in 6th gear. I just ordered the entire kit, bearings, seals, shims, solid spacer, and etc. from Spence @ Weir Performance. Here's the price I'm paying for all the parts;
FRS/BRZ 4.88 final $268.70 includes pinion depth shims
Install kit $313.94 (includes all diff bearings, solid spacer with shims, axle seals, pinion seal, pinion nut, gear marker)
ship $20.55
Total $603.19
Installation should be about half that, so roughly $900 - $1000 for everything replaced with new parts.
Stock gearing with the 4:10 rear end is 0.582 @ 4.10 = 1954 RPM's @ 60MPH. Gearing with the 4:88 is 0.582 @ 4.88 = 2326 RPM's @ 60MPH. So, I'm not losing that much MPG, but much lower gearing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 6th gear is still taller than a manual's. I would have to change to a mythical 5:404 ratio to match the 6th gear of a manual. You could go to a 5:29 and still have a taller 6th gear than a manual. The gearing change is the best thing you can do for your automatic in terms of low-speed performance.
I also recommend getting a set of used strut/spring/tophats from a BRZ. Then you can have a comfortable setup with GT86 front suspension and BRZ rear suspension, or a firm setup with BRZ front suspension and GT86 rear suspension.

Only just picked up this msg.
great info and appreciate your input
reply properly later on

Mystery solved. The threads on one of my O2 sensors are all kinds of messed up.

bummer, hoefully its not comletly stripped.

thread chaser,\ tap you need is M18 by 1.5 mm pitch if i reember correctly.

idealy they should screw in by hand then just tighten to required torque.

a very small amount of high temp anti seize on threads s also a good idea, just dont get any on sensor tips.

I don't know what they do to that thing at the factory.
Mine was jacked when I took it out if the OEM header the very first time.

Any time you install/re-install an O2 censor run a tap/thread chaser into the bung. New or used headers, it doesn't matter ..chase the threads..especially on coated headers (ceramic, chromed etc.) They need to have this done.
I speak from experience. That would be the hardest (but most enduring) way to learn something.

on sale right now

In the off chance that my primary O2 sensor is causing my trim issues I've gone ahead and ordered a new one (I've already replaced the secondary O2 sensor). I also have that thread chaser that I'll run through my openflash header once I reinstall everything.

So I got my O2 sensor problem sorted out and LTFTs are now much better. Most everything looks good, except AFR is a bit higher than expected. High 14s cruising. Is this in the normal range? Any cause for concern? I'm running OFT stg 2 93 UEL. 6AT. Thanks.

Totally normal. During cruise, you will see AFR in the 14-15:1 range.
