Engine less throaty? What?

Got my BRZ's oil changed at the dealership the other day after having finished the engine break-in. I noticed today that there seems to be a significant reduction in engine noise. And maybe a loss of power? That doesn't make any sense for an oil change to have done that does it? I tried with windows up and windows down, all with the AC and radio off. I got it all the way to almost redline and even then the engine doesn't sound as throaty as it did before. Am I just imagining this or could there be an explanation? Also it is significantly warmer today than any other day that I've had this car. Almost 70f today wheras it didn't break 45 any other day since I've had it.

Maybe the dealership updated or reset your ecu? It'll feel weird and sluggish as the car learns the throttle again.

Otherwise, a 30 degree temp change is enough to change how the car feels.

Its normal for an engine to be quieter (mechanical engine noise) after an oil change.

How many miles did you have on your dash at oil change?

@GT86Moi about 1250. @murdoc yeah, maybe. They also did a full 26 point (I don't remember how many points it was, lol) inspection. Would they have reset the ECU for that? @go_a_way1 that's what I figured, the gear box seems smoother now too. So, could just be something as simple as the fact that it's quieter due to the new oil.

Replaces engine oil... "gearbox feels smoother now"

That would only happen if they replaced your trans fluid..

Yup it will break down after 500 miles or so and be back to normal but it happens slowly so will likely not notice it.

Okay, maybe I'm imagining things. Haha. Yeah, I didn't think the gearbox should have changed, but it feels like it okay! Gosh.... get off my back. Haha. But really, everything does feel much more different than I'm used to post oil change. I'm still used to a 99 ford exploder that still sounded and felt like shit after an oil change. Haha.

If I want to believe in aliens, I can do that. If I want to imagine that my gearbox feels smoother to make me happier about the fact that the engine doesn't seem as loud, even though the gearbox is the same, I will do that. Haha. But really, aliens. They are everywhere. Watch your back. Keep your guns close and don't forget you only have to outrun your friends.

Its the temperature. I've never encountered a vehicle so sensitive to low engine temps before.

My guess is they did something that required the battery to be unhooked and the ECU is just relearning.
Noticeable difference in sound and power from an oil change or temperature change?
