Exclamation CF hood with vents vs. Rain

I have a general question on CF hoods with vents. I was looking at chargespeed CF hood and also at a Seibon.
I've never owned one , so do you have to keep them garaged at all times to prevent rain from flooding the engine. It seems impractical for rainy climate.
Does the vents help out with keeping engine cooler on track days?
If any one has prior experience please share your thoughts. Thanks

I think GTO, or Mitsubishi 3000 had a cover you can unscrew underneath for rainy days.

Not sure which version MR2 you have, but the MK1 MR2s did have a problem with the alternator bearings because of the hood vents. In fact, its one of the things to look for with them when buying. It sounds like the entire engine is shaking itself apart but really a new alternator makes it go away. Most sellers don't know this so it can be a negotiating point.

I had a 97, 96, and 2, 94 3000GTs with no vents 'r any type of holes in the hood. It may have been the 91-93s with the vents if anything. I've got a 04 WRX now with a huge hole in the hood and have never had any problems with it. I keep it outside all the time 'cause I have no garage. I know some CF hood manufacturers make their hoods with an optional removable underpanel that you can put on or take off for preventing rain from getting in while it's parked.

Here are some pics of the FirstMolding hood with the underpanels

Awesome thanks for the info and pics Loki2x. Yeah that's the hood I was looking at but couldn't find any info on it until you clarified it for me.
I was just a little concern since I'm going to live in the pacific north west (Portland) and it rains a lot. So as long as I keep the vent closes to the alternator closed , I should be fine.

I don't think they look the same , but even if someone did ask me that , I will be more than glad to tell them it's a FRS.

If you plan on moving to Oregon it isn't a good idea to have a vented hood. With all the rain here it might be more pain and suffering than you are happy with it. But you can always swap them for sunny days.
