Hmm, maybe just career. I've thought a bit of going the product manager route before, so being the liason between the software engineering team and then product development / support / sales / design.

The first job I ever had was interning for a "Sales Engineer" team, which was basically a sales team that knew had to write code and were more of an engineering rep for pre-sales as a way to demo products and how they could be used by engineering orgs at potential customer companies. So maybe that's an option too.

Other than what I mentioned, sometimes I wish I'd been as big a baseball fan back at the end of high school / beginning of college as I am now, because it would've been cool to do either beat writing or some other related kind of thing.

There are actually baseball development companies and teams that hire programmers as data scientists/engineers since a lot of the game nowadays is centered on how tech can improve performance, so that could be something tangentially-related but without being in the nitty gritty of the industry like where I've been the past ~3-4 years.

Imo quality dampers are worth it regardless of where/how fast you drive. Suspension is working at any speed above zero. (I'm including tyres in the suspension.) If you are aware/care/notice how your car drives upgrade the dampers.
I have fantasies of winning lotto and putting $25k dampers on my Suzuki.

Yeah, that's totally a thing too. Sometimes people implement "security" without properly assessing the real risk or how a service is used, which results in some over the top practice that adds excessive work while only providing value in very niche situations. It can also result in processes that inconvenience everyone while exempting the people who necessitated the process in the first place. I tend to refer to that as security theater, but no idea if there is a more official term for it.

I can't really comment on your specific situation without knowing a more objective overview of what is going on, but am not asking for more information either. However, I do suggest talking to management about it as opposed finding ways to get around it. If they're too stubborn to reassess the process in light of complaints, there is also a chance that when they do find you're going around it, the situation will only get worse.

Yeah, left and went back to my old job. As long as it checks a few boxes for me, I don't care what the job is. Is the work fulfilling to me? Is it a good place to work? Pay decent? I bitch a lot about my job, but I really do like it and I have an insane amount of freedom.

I mean, you can still do that. Start a blog and just put things out there. We all have hobbies for a reason.

I think the Tein Flex Z is very good bang for your buck for daily driving, and not going super dumped. And as long as you're not planning on tracking them.

JK, like I told you, I'd never go back to that life again.

Yeah regarding the question of career/job change I think one of the most important questions to ask would be do you currently have any other marketable skills that would allow you to make the same/similar salary as what you currently make, assuming you want to maintain the same quality of life you are accustomed to.

If you would have to go to formal training/schooling/college etc. for the career change, then that would be another very important consideration.
