A Testimony To The FR-S's Handling

Gonna keep this short and sweet. This is a testimony to the capability of the handling/suspension of the FR-S. I was just driving at about 10pm here in Florida, where it has been storming all afternoon. So 10pm at night and I'm driving home on the backroads in the pouring rain and I have my brights on. Suddenly a possum dashes out into the middle of my lane (the road is a two lane road) so I instinctively swerve into the other lane and then back over. I found myself blinking in awe and surprised that I hadn't spun out, as my mustang so easily would have. Instead, at about 50 miles per hour in pouring rain I was able to instantly swerve out of the way of the creature (not for the animal's sake but for my car's, as evil as that might sound) and back into my lane without so much as the tail giving out of any adverse side effects of the maneuver. I don't know, this might not seem like too much to many of y'all, but for me, coming from a boaty muscle car, this was pretty awesome. So the great work behind the FR-S's handling (and I guess suspension) not only saved my front bumper, but also kept me from losing control at all doing 50mph in the pouring rain and pulling a sudden slalom-like maneuver.

Out of curiosity, how do you like the FR-S compared to your 370Z? I was pretty set on an FRS until I realized I could get a lightly used 370Z for the same price... I know it's heavier, but the extra power and the noise out the back is luring me to the Z...

When I'm at work I drive big trucks, and I'm trained to hit the throttle and run things over, not dodge and go into the ditch... just some food for thought. (just got back from Hillsdale, WY, and a bunch of rabbits scattered, I did not want to hit them, so I let off the throttle, and they all skidattled, zero casualties! <3

But deer are a different story, out trucks have deer guards on them. I get nervous when I see deer, because I cannot tell which way they are gonna jump, (they are scared too), but thankfully no incidents since I was 4 yrs old (my dad hit a deer with me my mom and dad in and old skool Caprice traversing through Yellowstone)

The Z is a real powerhouse but it's build quality is just trash. Prepare to live with window rattle, trunk rattle, door rattle, harsh engine noise (not the good kind), a constant high frequency whine whenever the car is in gear, and to hear every pebble/tiny rock hitting your undercarriage constantly. As far as power the Z is the choice hands down, but it has about the same build quality (in my opinion of course) as a cheap econobox.

EDIT: But then again for sports driving I know this doesn't matter and comfort isn't a massive issue, but I'm assuming you're going to use it as a DD.

Like I said. I was more worried about my new baby (the car). And of course I wouldn't have done this if there was any other traffic nearby.

I had something similar happen to me yesterday. I was going around 40 mph in a tunnel and this black bird comes out of nowhere and lands in the middle of my lane on a two lane road. Unlike you however, I decided not to swerve past it because a car was to my right and stopping this late would not only hit the bird anyway, but cause the car behind me to rear end me. So basically it ended bad. Poor bird.... I was almost certain the car would have some paint damage because it was a decent sized bird, but to my surprise the car came out unscathed.

What's with all these animals jumping in front of our cars!!

On a side note, I just had to avoid some deer in my Eclipse a few minutes ago. They always seem to come out at night around here now...
