2022+ BRZ/GR86 CANbus Adapter - Ansix Auto

The 2022+ BRZ/GR86 does not have CAN bus connected to the OBD2 port for data logging. For those that want to run data acquisition software for track use, using the old OBD2 protocol is slow and lacking some critical telemetry inputs that are only in the CAN stream.

This wiring harness adapter tees into the CAN network through a module in the passenger side behind the glovebox. This adapter adds a second OBD2 connector in the glovebox specifically for data acquisition. This gives very fast response for vehicle telemetry like engine RPM, Speed, Steering Angle, Brake Pressure, Throttle Position, Coolant Temperature, etc.

This gives you vital insights to maximize your on track performance. Install is simple and will not impact any other systems in the car. Mounting the plug in the glove box is done with one OEM screw + another self tapping screw into the inside of the glovebox for a stealth install. This harness connector ONLY supports CAN bus. For regular OBD2 (such as pulling/clearing codes) use the standard one under the steering column. Recommended to be used with something like OBXLink MX+, RaceCapture, or similar CAN enabled devices.

OBXLink MX+ shown in photos is not included.

Price: $75 USD

Here is a video using RaceChrono app paired with OBXLink MX+ and a Racebox Mini.

You list this as 2022+ so is it safe to assume that this does not work with the 2013-2021 platform?

I was wondering this also.

It plugs into the active sound control plug behind the glovebox - I believe gen 1 had CAN available on the standard OBD port and thus this isn't required.

Also, the margins on this are huge, probably $10-15 in parts here if you're making it yourself.

This part is specific to the second gen cars.

The price of this part is not dictated by the parts cost but rather the labor involved in assembly since they’re made my hand.

Thanks for the clarification. It does seem like a quality part and the price does make sense given the rate of production.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks!

I bought and installed this via Petrel Data since I'm a SoloStorm user. Thank you for taking time to put this together and offering it to the market. To be honest I wanted the data but would not have taken time to create my own adapter, so this option was perfect for me.

You don't need an adapter. You can use this exact combo. The First gen can get access to can bus via OBOII port. You will need to configure the data sources. Look into this page

We're running a contest for a free shift knob.

We're looking for the HOTTEST hot lap. Post your hot lap videos here. Bonus points if you're using our Canbus adapter to get more telemetry on the video. We're picking a winner at the end of the month. Good luck! We're waiting to see your videos!

AIM sells a cable that has an OBD end... but it is the same cable as their flying lead CAN one soldered into an adapter (I went in the reverse direction as you, I desoldered an OBD cable and pinned it to CAN). If you want to save some money and don't want to cut up the Ansix one you can buy a generic OBD end from Amazon and solder your CAN harness to the matching pins.
