NA first drive days for GR86 first week of August

Just came across this remark made this past Tuesday by Patrick George of The Drive, in his response to comments on a recent MX-5 review:
Quote:
I'm driving the GR86 next week...
So unless he has an exclusive which seems highly unlikely, the first press drives for NA are happening next week.

I heard some others mention it at the Toyota reveal event.

Looking forward to it.

I wonder if Toyota and Subaru are doing separate press driving events or if they’re organizing them together. If Toyota is really determined to show everyone how different their car is from the BRZ they may benefit from doing back-to-back drives.

The press event is August 9th. There is a one week embargo following the drive.

So Monday the 16th is the magic date. Hmmm. Isn’t something else happening the day after?

I suggested here a few weeks ago that Toyota and Subaru would be smart to get the first drive reviews out just when Nissan was launching the new Z - looks like they listened lol...

I don't think factory gives much importance on what is posted here.
