A cheese toastie is what we know as a grilled cheese. I have had them with soups usually tomato but others as well. I have had baked beans as a side but never in sandwich.
The best grilled cheese IMHO is made with a mix of old cheddar and medium (not those processed slices) with large pieces of bacon. YUM!
I find most specialty flavoured crisps, (potato chips) to be to off putting. The only flavoured ones I’ll eat are Salt n Vinegar, Sour Cream and Onion and Ketchup.

Well, I could have, but my co worker talked me into it. Yep, I found it was good!

Maybe all that whisky had something to do with it -

Where you can find them Herr's makes a great line of flavored chips and cheese puffs. My absolute favorite are the Jalapeno Popper Cheese Curls. Just a mild kick. RaceTrac Convenience Stores sell them under their own brand. I'd rather have these than anything Frito-Lay makes.

Not always available (they do them as a limited run) are their Sandwich Chips. These are great on a burger or sandwich instead of the regular condiments.

Well, maybe it started in Old Blighty but as far back as I can remember I've always liked chips with/in a sandwich. When salt and vinegar chips first appeared, (incidentally, invented by a Canadian working in England) I discovered they paired well with tuna salad. Also, All Dressed potato chips go well with egg salad.

Why did you have to share that? I was craving a snack and in a moment of weakness I now have 42 1oz bags coming via amazon.

Kids, big and small, have been putting chips in their sandwiches since the dawn of chips and sandwiches. I like crushing them up in a salad too.

Definitely not a Brit only thing. I've been doing it since I was a kid. At the time, pretty much thought I had invented it.

Don't you love the innocence of childhood. Crisps with a sandwich is my thing.. mixed between 2 slices of bread doesn't work for me.. but occasional fish finger sandwich with crisps on the side hits the spot.. now I have a craving for fish finger sandwich with HP sauce!!
