So just picked up my 7 week old German shepherd 3 weeks ago.

Noticed only maybe 40km of gas left so went to a gas station a few blocks down.

Bad start. The dog was hysterically crying tied to a 4 foot leash, probably never seeing family ever again. Pissed on the a thin bed sheet in the back and was not interested in small pet store treats.

I opened the hatch for relief while I was pumping gas.

Some woman drops her keys driving a 15 year old shooting brake Jetta. She was really angry at me for some reason. Told me puppies should not be in an airtight trunk.

So I told her to go away and leave me alone.

Exactly a week later, the police and SPCA came knocking at my door. They examined my trunk and put some information in a notebook.

Hopefully, they do not take my puppy away from me.

I mean, she's not wrong. Should probably have secured it in the back seat.

well, again hopefully in 2021 we do not have canine puppy sacrifices.

I am wrong. If I run for a position in the House of Congress, I mistakenly used a pronoun.

Sorry to hear this. I know, hind sight is always 20-20 but you really should have got some advise before picking up your new pet. Puppies will have problems and someone should have advised you to get a small travel crate to transport/sleep in as it gets used to it's new home. Put a puppy pad in the bottom to soak up "stuff", secure it in the back seat and you're good to go.
The wife and I have lots of experience and we just bought a new, bigger one, for our growing English Cocker Spaniel. Looks similar to this:

For some reason the rest of my text, (after the image) didn't show up and I can't seem to edit that post.
Anyway, What I wanted to say is that crate training is very important, even for BIG dogs. All our dogs have been in a kennel or crate some part of every day. That included our beloved full sized female German Shepard, Sydney.

Not exactly an Unsolved Mysteries worthy thread, but the pet store even had a Food-bank/Donation Bin that had a small crate available. But I thought I could do without it smooth sailing.

I was able to drive an hour back in 6th gear, dog asleep on my right hand reached to the back.

More pupper photos. She's now doubled in weight from 8-9 pounds to 19.

Crate training it a must for dogs in my book. Both of our large German shepherds are crate trained.
