I guess just keep refreshing all the pharmacy websites and stuff. That's how I was finally able to schedule mine.

Interesting that seven million doses given of J&J with six that had a bad reaction and one possible death. And that has stopped the use. No report of other possible problems with the seven. That means one in a million chance of a problem. No published info on the others and the reaction statistics. Most vaccines have a reaction rate.

Super interesting podcast / article: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/mu...mrna-vaccines/

A lot of it I'd already read about, but it does a fantastic job explaining the vaccine again, how it works, etc.

It's about 20 mins, but I just read the transcription in about half that.

If you go back a couple of pages to the press conference I linked, Dr Fauci comments on the remarkable aspects of the pause. As far as I can gather, the standard treatment for "normal" clotting of this nature seems to make this special type worse. He also mentions that it is indeed remarkable that the other two have had no red flag circumstances so far. Not sure of the exact criteria for that, but this was clearly one if them.

There's an analogy that can be made here.

If I give 7 million people who've never had allergy testing done some food item they've never had, say peanuts.

There's going to be a portion of them that get reactions.

Does that mean all 7 million people should stop eating peanuts?

True. But these vaccines are the solar flare versions of political hot potatoes. Any hint of problems and the anti-vaxers will be clamoring "I told you so's" from every roof and ant hill everywhere. Are decision makers being overcautious? Perhaps. But there are a number of reasons for the caution.
