Fortune Auto Coils for Street/AutoX
So i've pretty much made my decision to get Fortune Auto V5 500 series coils with 6k front, 7k rear. I've heard mostly good things about it. I was wondering if its worth it to get the swift spring upgrade, why is this spring an upgrade? whats better about it. Same thing with the radial mount upgrade. is it worth it?
Thanks in advance! |

Too bad Fortune Auto isn't a vendor here (as far as I know), would love to see them chime in with an official answer.

Swift has some marketing material about why their springs are better, definitely a popular option right now.
I don't know who FA uses for their base springs, cheaply made springs can be inconsistent in length and stiffness and have less travel distance before binding, they also might be heavier, might sag and loose strength before you're done with them, there's lots of variables when it comes to springs. Google should point you to some decent testimonials about the Swift springs, some people swear it provides better ride quality. I'm sure FA uses a decent supplier for their base springs but it's comparing budget to high end options, sometimes it's worth it sometimes it isn't and it's up to you. Some are totally happy using Rota's, some would never choose them over Enkei RPF1's. http://www.swiftsprings.net/tech/advantage.html FWIW, I'm considering swift, hypercos, and eibachs for my car right now, the decision will come down to what's available and price. |

@Jason@DSG They sell/pimp-out the Fortune auto and even has a 'DSG Edition' version. He may be able to answer some questions.

I have a set of those DSG FA 500's. Really I only drive street, and haven't noticed a huge difference in ride quality over a set of cheap coils. However, that may also be because I'm lowered 4.5" or so from stock.
But they are quiet, don't "twang" when making low speed turns and they look super pretty. |

Alrighty so time to answer some questions
1) Swift springs are better for a few reasons. They're lighter and made of a proprietary material that allows greater stroke but being wound less times than a traditional spring while being stronger. We did a whole write-up, you peeps should be following our blogs http://www.dsgperformance.com/Fortun...th-The-Upgrade 2) @Cole 4.5'' is a ridiculous drop, you've pretty much ruined anything good handling-characteristic wise on ANY coilover. The fact they still don't make noise (even at that drop) shows their quality. That's definitely due to both Swift Springs and Radial Bearing Mounts. On that note, 3) Radial Bearing Mounts -- exactly what @Kiske said. Full in-depth write-up on them: http://www.dsgperformance.com/Fortun...-Bearings-Info 4) Swift springs because of their material and how they're wound allow higher spring rates for race applications (not relevant here, but in the even someone wants to exceed 12k, has to be Swifts) Fortune Auto also released their new Fortune Air Cup Piston setup. Because of the rear shock, it's actually front only but gives you 2'' lift Just a side note, but for Black Friday, we're actually running 3 specials on the DSG Editions of the new cup kit: 0% interest financing for 6 month terms, people buying a new set outright with cups, we're upgrading to DSG Editions for FREE and FREE shipping (roughly $100 for these) Info on new cups: http://www.dsgperformance.com/fortun...on-lift-system DSG Edition Cup Kit: http://www.dsgperformance.com/DSG-Ed...System-FRS-BRZ |

Correct, 99.9% of all aftermarket stuff comes from the US and we pay USD. With the fluctuating dollar, we keep consistent pricing by sticking with USD. But, for Canadian customers we can arrange to pay in CAD if you like. We just have to use the exchange rate of the day
