I don't but there have been multiple confirmed cases of automatics with the same sound from the same area being fixed with the vacuum pump replacement. I can't find anything wrong with the one I removed but I can certainly see how the clanking sound can be generated by this pump. She's all installed but I'm going to wait until the morning to let the gasket paste seal up.

That was it! She started right up, no stalling, no metal knocking noises and purring like a kitten.

Wow, just wow!

I've been chasing this issue for a year with a full engine build and had two tuners working on the stalling issues...

Damn vacuum pump!

wow great to know!! I noticed oil on the one on the left. Do these pumps get oil circulation from the engine? How hard was it to replace???

Yes, the oil appears to lubricate the internals. It was clean until I turned the key a bit and it spit out oil.

Install is a breeze. Top access, 3 10mm bolts torqued to 12.5 ft lbs.

You need to clean the old gasket seal off of the engine, test fit the new pump to get the key on the right position, apply seal paste to the new pump (I used the black gasket maker variant). Apply the paste in a complete circle on the outer edge of where the pump contacts with the engine. Install pump and torque bolts to 12.5. Wait 12 hours for the gasket to set.

This is what I did but the gasket instructions say to let it dry before torquing down the bolts and they suggest waiting 24 hours. If it leaks I'll just re-seal it.

Going slow it took me 20 minutes.

Oh, and don't forget to replace the little Oring behind the pump - $1 part,

Update - I'm leaking oil - I didn't put enough gasket maker on, I didn't wait long enough before torquing it down and I didn't wait long enough to drive it.

I'll be redoing it this weekend - lol

Video links are dead. Any way I could get another link? I suspect I have the same issue, but I'm not sure. I'll be grabbing recordings today.

OP hasn't checked in since July. Are you still under warranty?

Not even remotely. I have a boosted 2014 with a rebuilt title

Been hearing the sound for over a month now. No performance issues though. Only happens after driving for a while, and really only audible between 1000 and 2000 RPM. If I shut the engine off and turn it back on immediately, the noise doesn't come back until I drive for a while again...

Still gotta grab the sound clip.
