Looking to upgrade to a different catback (quad tip)
First off, quad tip is merely because I want it to be different. I've been looking into the Blitz nur, but have read that it can be pretty restricting due to the piping size. This would be a no-no since I plan on upgrading the rest of the exhaust system soon as well. EDIT: Boosting is likely to happen in a year or so also.
I also don't want it to sound stock, because that's lame. Any info from those that have gone the same route? Last edited by GNious; 04-06-2017 at 06:43 PM. |

Restricting how so?
If you don't plan on doing turbo or supercharge, any normal 60mm piping catback system will work perfectly fine for your needs. |

Oops my bad, forgot the mention that I do plan on boosting eventually as well. Won't be for a year or so though. Think it should be fine still?

Honestly, unless you have an upgraded turbo that is much larger than the normal bolt-on kit, or you are running complete 3" piping, having 60mm piping on an exhaust for your average run-of-the-mill turbocharged car is not a restriction that you can feel.
As for the sound, the exhaust is one part of it. If you want a louder exhaust from whatever quad tip exhaust you have, get a front pipe without a cat or resonator. |

The only quad tip exhausts I can think of (HKS, TRD, Blitz, and MXP) probably won't fit your standards. MXP is probably closest. Otherwise, I'd say buy whatever exhaust you deem less restrictive and then get a shop to weld on some quad tips.

Im looking at this as well... would that be the best option as getting a shop to just weld on quads to whatever sytem you choose? I bought the new trd '17 rear lower for quad tips

Ultimately the answer will depend on what you actually want out of your car.
Do you want to turbocharge and make 250-275RWHP? If so, a 60mm exhaust is by no means a restriction. Do you want to maximize your power gains from your kit? Then consider a custom exhaust w/ quad tips. |

MRT in Michigan is going to be making a quad exhaust (fits TRD rear add on diffusers, 1.0 rear lip, and TRD Japan rear) in the next month or so; they're using my cars to prototype them.
This is their current setup: http://www.shopmrt.com/2013-2016-Sci...t-p/91z151.htm They sell a full exhaust as well; header back. |

I already went down this road many months ago by test fitting a TRD-spec quad exhaust to a RS 1.0, the exhaust tip basically sits on the bumper. -alex |

With regards to the new TRD Kouki rear kit, what size and type exhaust tips would you suggest? I just ordered mine from japan and I am in search of exhaust? I am looking at getting an ARK Performance Grip with custom tips, but unsure of tip fitment.

All I can tell from talking to TRD Japan is that the muffler does have a different PN. However, that could be a function of the flange as I know that's different from the 12-16MY cars. I'll post up what I can find. We're building the quad exhaust on my series 10 first, and then I'm going to move onto the 2.0 (full TRD rear lip) and then the 860. |

My TRD Kouki rear lip just showed up from Japan last night. I will take measurements and post possible fitments. Local Toyota was excited to see it.
