"Partially Improved" BRZ effective May 26th, 2022

I caught this update posted on the Subaru Japan web site today:

In some improved models, the operability of the lighting switch was reviewed, and the vehicle side light / tail light & OFF was changed from 1 position to 2 positions by separating the vehicle side light / tail light and OFF.

https://www.subaru.co.jp/news/2022_05_26_151055/

If I'm interpreting correctly, the previous light switch (for 2022 JDM vehicles) has 1 position that combines side/tail lights and OFF (I'm assuming for headlights) together, meaning that in this position the side and tail lights are still on (i.e. daytime running). With the new lighting switch, there will be a second position that will turn off all lights.

Am I reading this correctly? How does the light switch currently work for 2022 USDM models?

Groundbreaking lol. Mine hasn’t left the ‘auto’ position since I took delivery.

Same. I like this change though, pretty useful when waiting for someone.

It's probably aimed at the Japanese market, they love adding all kinds of accessory lighting so more scenarios for different light circuits to be on at one time makes sense.
