All these guys are reviewing the 50K performance version. unless you like the styling and Z nostalgia at that price better to just get a used GT350 or a mustang GT with magna-ride suspension+money for bolt-ons and go full crowd killer lol. I was definitely looking forward to this release but the prices are really not making this worth it.

The Performance is certainly lacking in value, but it doesn't add anything super substantial (well, maybe the LSD) that would change the impressions vs. the base for $40,000.

The Pony cars always had a great value-for-money proposition, but they're not everyone's cup of tea. Looks like Nissan did good by the Z, and more options are certainly better. Also, did the Z offering a manual spur Toyota to offer one for the Supra? Or was it planned years in advance?

The Performance model adds larger brakes (if you recall, brakes were always a problem on the 370Z) as well as larger wheels (I'm guessing larger wheels were needed to clear the larger brakes). Additionally, the base model comes on a square tire set up 245/245. The Performance is staggered 255/275; which leads me to believe the wheels are probably wider in the rear as well.

If I'd shopped for one, I'd definitely get the base model with as little bells and whistles as possible. Add fully catless exhaust + professional dyno tune, good coilovers, clutch type lsd, brakes and you'll get a much better car than the higher trims offer for the similar if not less overal price.

the z's were never really that affordable of sports cars. the pricing is pretty much in line with what the 370z was before this just by itself, and even more in line after considering all the supply chain issues and renegotiations it took to build the car during a global shutdown.

i mean, the 370 always cost more than the brz...

just looking up 2014 values:
brz MSRP was $26,500-28,500
370z MSRP was $29,990-43,020.

and 2022 values:
brz MSRP is $27,995-$32,295
z MSRP is $39,990-52,990

it looks more like they got rid of the lower level trims to focus more on the higher end market, which every automaker is doing anyways, especially with suv's. the top end pricing of either vehicle hasn't changed all that much though.

If my 86 was totaled tomorrow it would be replaced with a Z.
Looks like they corrected every single thing I disliked about the 370.

If it were a 2+2 I'd be tempted as well, but it isn't unfortunately. I'd just always have to approach the car from the back.

That would have been my rule before but since my back seat has been down for two years now I think it is safe to eliminate that as a requirement moving forward.

I have full confidence that the aftermarket will come up with something to fill those vast tracks of land on either side of the grill and that is all I would want.

That's one of the best reviews I've read to date. I love this part:

Quote:
Mr. Tamura is a man who prefers to take the fast speed route, with highs speed sweepers, over bridges and tunnels, comfortably, safely, dynamically. This, at supersonic speeds, in a stunningly sexy car. He enjoys his drives with velocity and refinement, and arrive with no stains on his pants, to enjoy that vintage wine at the nicest lodges when he got there.

Mr. Tada is a man who would take the longest detour, where roads carve incessantly though the mountains.

He does not mind changing flat tires along the way, and having bald tires upon arrival, 3 hours late with wine he bought along the detour… His pleasure is clinging to the steering wheel and coaxing motions as laws of physics turn to upper limits of joy.
What an excellent synopsis of differing philosophies, neither one right or wrong.

On a side note - do we know whether it will require premium gas? I assume it will, but just curious.
