Prediction: No 3cyl, FWD Hybrid focused on power. Think 260hp Honda CRZ.
My prediction: 100% certain the US market GR Corolla is going to have the 3 cylinder turbo with close to 300 hp, AWD and a 6sp manual. MSRP under $40k.

Markups and the stupidity of the market at the moment will probably make it difficult to find around MSRP (and available at all). But give the industry another 1-2 years and things should have settled down a bit.

I see nothing wrong with your prediction, so what's the problem?

My concern is that US being US, will dumb down the GR Corolla with all the restrictions and what not, and we'll end up getting the equivalent of the Turbo Mazda 3, which yes, is AWD, AT, but even with the turbo is not exactly thrilling to drive. So the GR Corolla could be MT, AWD, with maybe a bigger or same engine but it will have so much BS from the regulations that we'll be paying a premium just because it has GR slapped on it and end up with a car that offers medium thrills.

I mean if it's bogged down by it's tuning that's an easy fix. But time will tell.

If they stuff it with "Steering Insist" that can't be turned off permanently, that's a hard NO!

I predict that no matter what it actually turns out to be 50% of the people here with think it is total crap and the other 50% will think it is the best vehicle ever made. There will be virtually no middle ground.

I predict anything that makes it here will just be a moderate HP increase, aero everywhere, AT only, modified appliance car with a nice premium price attached to it.

I also think this.

It will either be a FWD Hyperhatch, or the equivalent of a Tacoma TRD Pro

I think it’d be great to have a Toyota reliable turbo hatch. However, I cannot imagine we’ll see anything lightweight and engaging spec wise like the GR Yaris.

Hopefully it’s not going to have what the is200 have. Sure it’s tunable but it’s not producing much even then.

GR is the new TRD. Lost all true meaning and is just a marketing buzzword (well initials)

It’s already bogged down by a Corolla body.

Have you driven a 19+ Corolla Hatchback?

I put ~19,000 mi on mine in a year. To me its only flaw is its light steering weight, which is a waste because it has a quick steering ratio. Otherwise it’s a very solid daily driver. Goes around corners very well too.
