seriously, i drove my FRS for about a month, without touching my S2000, i've been now driving the S2000 all week, i cannot believe how bad the gas mileage is in it, i guess i never noticed before


mixed driving in the FRS i get about 26-27ish and by no means am i trying to baby it(i actually crashed it last week, whoops, she's getting repaired)

Took my FR-S back to Eastern Washington a couple weeks back and averaged 37.7mpg over 814 miles. Getting down to about 1,200ft in elevation woke the car up pretty decently (I'm at 5,700ft at my place in Nevada.)

Hell... I've gotten 38.5 MPG on my V8 with 4 cylinder shut off.

22 miles from work to home.

Just depends how long the drive is and the terrain.

31.4 avg. in my FR-S. I have got 40mpg on the highway. My lexus used to get 16-18mpg.

Over the past 14k or so miles, I've averaged 27.6 MPG. My best ever was 32.6 MPG.

I am able to avg 36mpg with 75% highway and 25% Local......great fuel economy compare to last ride

An aftermarket tune helped me quite a bit as the car runs rich stock. Was able to get in the low 40's on the highway at 60-65 mph.

my manual has seen 36 after ditching the lrr oem tires. usually average 33

ops right foot isn't nearly delicate and gay enough



with a reflash i bet consistent mid to high 30s would be doable.

this cars fuel savings with the amount of driving i do nearly cover the cost of the vehicle itself over my other options in the driveway.

After over a year of driving my FR-S I can safely say that my 2002 RSX-type S got better city mileage. RSX-28mpg city FRS-26mpg city.

I don't understand how you guy can get that figures.

I'm not able in doing more then 400kms on a full tank and as you can see in my signature the average is quite low and I don't trash it. Maybe on the last 30kms left of fuel I do almost redline it for few times.

I mean.. fuck it if I start trashing the car consistently probably the mpg would go at 10.

during the break in period of my vehicle the rpm's stayed under 3k and i'd average about 8.5-9L/100km on the reading in the dash and still only get an average 400km per tank (90% city driving)

i think the best i've got so far was in the range of about 450-500 on a solid 90% highway driving with light acceleration and low rpm shifts

so i decided a couple of months ago that i'm just going to have fun with this vehicle anyways seeing as i was never going to reach the target goal of being fuel efficient enough to warrant what it was claimed that this car should average as advertised @ 6.6L/100km which should get you approximately 680Km per tank of gas (45L because you can never fit a full 50L of fuel in a 50L tank) according to those stats

so in turn my shifting always tends to be in the 4-5k rpm range and i'm still consistently hitting 400km per tank and the reader is giving me an average of 10L/100km. this is a closer reading to the actual milage but still a fair amount off

and if i really play with her and shift in the 5.5-7k ranges consistently i'll average about 300-350km per tank

this is all from my daily driving

but this leaves a question open. I've never taken this car on a long road trip yet that consisted of a non stop steady drive on a freeway

for those of you that have, have you managed to get the 680km/422Miles approximate that this vehicle has been rated to achieve?

and if so that can mean that during start up of your vehicle, you lose a lot of milage by just turning on your engine every time you want to go to work and home again

which for me that means that every week to a week and a half with an approximate of 6-7 days of driving i'm losing over 200km in fuel.

So with about 14 start ups of my engine i'm losing at least 14km worth of fuel each time; which is just crazy insane and i really hope i'm wrong

When I got my car I was working from home, so mostly taking it out for long drives and vacations. Got pretty consistent 33mpg.

The company recently rescinded the work from home option, so I've been driving stop and go downtown for the last couple of weeks.
Yeah, it's down in the 20's now. The idling and stop & go makes a huge difference.
