Word of note, I have read and been told that it's not exactly difficult to read if an ECU has been flashed. Disclaimer, I don't have experience with modding but had my questions answered out of curiosity by those who do heavy aftermarket work on these cars.
The least I can say is that it's almost definitely not fool-proof to flash back to stock. Whether you get denied work just depends on the dealer or even the tech that day. |

For my catless header I used a mini cat O2 90° extension and never had a code.
No tune for 4k km, no codes over that time. I would suggest doing header and overpipe all in one go. A "well designed" $500 header can give near on typical gains to a $2000 header. A well engineered $80 overpipe works just as good as a $300 overpipe. A punched out (hammer and screwdriver cat delete) OEM 17+ can give typical gains to the majority of aftermarket headers. There are exceptions with multiple designs to suit your needs, but you pay to play with them, they are more beneficial for NA cars at the pointy end and supercharged applications. If your car is a daily you can get most of the performance benifits cheaply. If you have a racecar and require the best to be competitive you need to spend big for a couple more HP. To use all the added breathing capability you need a tune. A "real" dyno tune will really wake up the car, but it costs more, ECUTEK is my preferred hack (racerom is sweet, rev match is my fav as I can not heal toe to save my life), other edits are out there, or if race car get stand alone if required. OFT is cheap for a reason, it's generally only ever average, it is popular and pretty idiot proof though. In the end (real world) don't expect alot from a NA FA20. Exhaust can be done in your driveway on stands. Let the car cool and spray wd40 on all nuts and bolts, leave it to work for an hour. Use new gaskets (I also use exhaust silicon copper stuff sealer). Use a torque wrench for the header bolts, don't over tighten. Easy, you just done manly car stuff, you are now officially awesome.

Not to mention atleast in the states. No warranty can ever be void, only a claim can be denied IF they can prove your modification contributed to the failure. |

Since your worried about everything, just ignore the headers for now and get a catback exhaust. You don't need a tune for a catback and you'll get 3hp+! Most dealerships don't care about aftermarket catbacks.

A cat back is money for noise IMO, the money outlayed for a cat back could be spent on a header and overpipe for some real gains not just noise.
I'm not sure you will get any real gains from a catted header though, maybe a 100 cell cat would see enough flow to show some real gains??.. In the end it's removing the restriction from the cat in the header that lets the engine breath, the header design in relation to diameter and runner/secondary and collector design help flow but also moves around your power curve. Do some reading about Ace headers and their characteristics from different designs.

Worried about warranty (He's NOT IN THE USA)
Find out locally what will make you lose warranty. Anyone else on here is talking out their ass in your particular situation. No header "requires" a tune, but you are just throwing money away without one. A tune alone will probably net you a good gain on a bone stock system. As others have said, you can reflash back to stock and most likely no one will know. Both OFT and ECUTek will be able to go back to stock. OFT = Cheaper but one size fits all kind of tune. ECUTek = More expensive but opens access to more custom and dialed in tunes. Also yes, a catback will do almost nada but make the car louder. TLDR; Too worried warranty may be affected = Don't do anything. Take the slim chance = Get a set of headers AND a tune. Enjoy the car. |

your going to need a tune with any headers you get.
the tune is going to correct fuel and air ratio and will run a lot better |
