That $80,000 5 bedroom ranch in Buttfuck Arkansas may look really cheap until you find out the local average annual income is $25,000.
Hear it all the time here since the guys in Toronto say "Must be nice to be able to buy $200,000 homes". My only reply is "must be nice to earn triple what I do for the same job just because you work in Toronto".
everything is relative, even in California.

you can buy $200k new houses on gigantic lots in the middle of nowhere. or you can pay $500k for an apartment in downtown LA. But do I want to live in a huge house and be in the middle of nowhere?

I once thought about taking a job in Boise (at Micron), and while it would've been nice to sell my current house and move into something larger w/ no mortgage, I am constantly reminding myself that there is more to this than just money.

For as long as I have been involved in the automotive aftermarket industry (24 years and counting) I have never felt the need to move out of CA. Maybe it's just me.

meh.

Yes. I didn’t mean to imply that things were the same across a state or region. It can of course be very localized.

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)

All the leaves are brown

And the sky is grey

I went on a walk

On a winters day...

Begin to eat the dust of Baja California
It's a great pleasure
It's a great, great pleasure
It's a great pleasure to have all of you here today
But I thought you all might begin your tour here
Senator, welcome to our microphones
Is there anything of yours that we can keep as a memento of this visit?
Take California

I went to Lake Tahoe once. Absolutely loved it. But then a Californian held their horn down for 10 sec because someone didn't go 0.0005 sec after the light turned green.

Possibly, but many of the Californians that move to Austin do the same exact thing. So it's most likely they were Cali

Why would anyone from Cali move to Texas ? I've been assured in this very thread, on the internet that California is the best. They must be posers pretending to be from Cali.
