ECU CAN access

Please post your hardware/software solutions. I can keep this first post up to date with the ones that work, dont work, recommended/not recommended/etc. for other users

Brand Source Hardware (wired/wireless/dongle) Software Cost

Even pics. I know some hardware adapters interfered with pedal access.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't understand. Access to what? Access to CAN messages? A list of CAN messages and what they mean? Access to RAM & ROM addresses in the ECU (basically, tuning capability)? Access to another particular module on the network?

We needed about $10k in equipment and subscriptions to be able to reverse engineer/access all the CAN data we needed to fully develop a plug and play Hydra EMS. Even with access to the data it's just not black and white, you need someone who can "figure" it out. Your investment in time an expertise will far eclipse that cost

Now maybe you just want some simple information from the CAN Bus that can be accessed with a simple OBD diagnostic reader with limited CAN support.

Romraider has a few guys working on getting the CAN bus read on these cars. Some say the key is to use some of the new subaru diesel protocols to get in. Rumor has it that's how tuners now are getting into the ECU.

Anyone can listen to the CAN bus. You have to reverse engineer what the signals mean though.
