So wait, are you guys saying that you need to actually crack the spot welds? As in separate the panels so they aren't welded together anymore? Because that's what it reads like.

Just pry it enough so you can spray some lube inside

I believe that's what he meant

You'll know why he says "crack" once you actually do it. The welds will literally make a loud "pop" noise. I used a small screw driver and about the weight of my hand to pry between the panels at the welds I could see. Be sure not to pry hard enough to yield any material or cause any permanent deformation. You can do it all from inside the trunk without removing any panels.

Read the other thread, the one you already posted in, completely. I suspect you are just reading the first page or something, because it's pretty well spelled out on what to do.

Thanks for your comment, I have modified the first post to be really clear.

Does it better now? See the important note I have added.

For safe measure I cracked every spot weld in the rear area and lubed the hell out of it. No more pops and squeaks! I sprayed lube in the latch receiver on the rear seat to kill those noises. My car has never been this quiet

No reason to. A light oil such as WD40 and cracking the welds gets rid of the sound permanently. No reason to use sealants and potentially make a huge mess.
