It is hard to say what he exactly did. I'm no expert. But Anthony connects to my laptop remotely and uses a chat session to instruct me what to do. Things like disconnecting the tablet, try it out in the car etc...
He installed some program on my laptop which tests the tablet. It then started to backup the tablet, which took quite some time. It then erases the tablet and runs a restore program. After that the protocols and the system was installed again.
This was yesterday. It wasn't quite clear of the whole procedure was successful but the result was that the problem was still there. Bootcamp might have been the culprit, we are not sure.
Like I mentioned, today we did a new session, which took no time at all. Just a couple of minutes. What he did is a mystery to me but it worked. The tablet communicated with the ECU and I could write the tune.
I have to say that Anthony really was persistent and focussed. Refreshing to see after waiting for so long.

Aha, I wonder. Tonight I'm going back to the future of OFM, I'm pretty certain it's not WIN related as my computer hasn't changed. I could always re-format my WIN HDD but I shouldn't have to. We'll see.

I'm sorry for not explaining it correctly. The problem with the OFT is NOT related to Windows. The problem is a firmware upgrade OpenFlash did a while ago. Their OpenFlash Manager software does this automatically when you connect it to your computer.
It affected a small percentage of tablets, making them unable to communicate. Mine was of of them.
To solve this they need to access the tablet via a windows computer. I don't have one so I installed windows on a Mac in Bootcamp. We then ran into problems trying to access the tablet, maybe because of bootcamp.
If you run the OpenFlash Manager natively on a windows computer, you will not run into the problem I had.
So if you submit a support ticket you will eventually be contacted and then they will be able to solve your issue, no need to re-install windows.

To speed up the process I joined a Facebook group. I suggest you do the same so you can communicate directly with Anthony and OpenFlash.

Actually I especially made a facebook account for this lol because I don't use facebook.

@Guru_woodman Thank you for your input re this & yes I got you. I know it's an OF problem which is why I just tried going back to an older version of "Manager" to see if anything would change but it didn't work. Presume OFT firmware now locked in to latest revision which the Manager can't change which is typical of firmware in general.

I'm already on bOOKface, just got approved for the group . . . . . still waiting:|
