Ordered a new intercooler yesterday!
JDL are now custom making these with a Garrett high density core that will support over 500hp sustained. Fitment is the exact same as the original. I opted for this because I want a more efficient intercooler without sacrificing room under the bumper cover, since I will need it on the passenger's side for the Blitz oil cooler and duct. The Greddy/Zage tube and fin intercooler that I have is barely rated for 400hp and at that point my turbo becomes a hair dryer with all the heat soak, so this new core should really help with IATs on track! Should have it in a few weeks. Last edited by ATL BRZ; 08-15-2018 at 10:22 AM. |

More progress!
Installed the turbo and Blitz oil cooler. The kit fit perfectly with the exception of the upper bracket, which is meant to be secured to the stock crash beam. The two lower brackets support the core and duct assembly very well and I have a couple zip ties on the upper mount for now. It's very sturdy. The only difference in the 2017+ bumper is the left side of the shroud has less material to clear the inside of the bumper. |

Does the blitz kit use banjo style fittings on the sandwich plate? Also would that almost 180 degree fitting on the core cause a pretty significant pressure drop? Just curious, been reading up on oil coolers and fittings/pressure drop before I order one. Just don’t know what kit I want to go with.

Finished up and got it running yesterday!
Was so nice to hear it rumble again after nine months. New bumper is looking good with the Verus carbon fiber canards. The brake ducts went on perfectly with the new brackets for the '17 bumper. Thinking about running without the mustache and grille piece for now. If I do install it I will probably trim the lower grille section off completely as I did before. Still need to install the new splitter and the hood and it should be good to go! Once I get the new intercooler that will go on too Last edited by ATL BRZ; 09-03-2018 at 07:53 PM. |

Glad to see your car is up and running again. That's a very sinister looking front end.
Did you also change the valves, or just went with the valve springs and retainer kit? |

Still using the stock valves, just GSC single springs with retainers. The stock heads flow pretty well for the power levels I'm looking at. |

Buttoned everything up and took it out for a short spin around the block to ensure all is well with the tune. Not too much longer now before I can get into boost again!

That looks like a lot of overlap. Is that what DEI told you to do?

It's not a DEI wrap, so no. I followed the instructions from HSP as best I could, though.
EDIT: realized that I stated it was a DEI wrap originally by mistake. I've edited my original post to correct that. |
