I know semi-internally this car probably hasn't been finalized completely(waiting for us on "H" day to comment on the renders), but based on evidence I have I am strongly thinking they will go full in on the Type-R variant engine wise. So think Civic Type-R motor...but better internals, tuning, enhancements, LSD, 6mt, full HPD coilovers, exhaust. Acura needs to for redemption at this point and they know it.

All this hate on the nsx

It weighs 3878

The r8 weighs 3700-3900 from what I can find

Huracan weighs 3400

911 turbo is 3700

Aston vantage is 3700

GTR is 3800-3900

Acceleration it's top of its class, 1/4 its towards the top of its class.

Every review lauds it for driving lighter than it weighs and it really is quite a bit faster than numbers would lead you to believe. Every review also says it's a supercar that you can drive every day.

The only metrics by which it's a failure is sales.

Yeah, it's a bit unfair. It's a really good supercar. I'd happily take one over an R8 or Huracan since I like the idea of a livable everyday supercar with Japanese reliability.

The thing that killed it in Australia was the price combined with badge snobbery. Since it cost as much as an R8 or Huracan here, rich Aussies bought those instead. I think there is less badge snobbery toward Honda/Acura in the USA, but here in Australia the people who can afford a supercar are typically obsessed with the image and will pick a Euro supercar over a Japanese one every time.

More broadly, Honda is basically downsizing in Australia and on the verge of pulling out altogether due to years of declining sales (a big part of the reason is that instead of getting top notch Japanese and USA vehicles, we only get lumped with lower quality models made in Thailand but they are priced at a premium).

Has it been confirmed if this new Integra is a genuine 2-door coupe, or a '4 door coupe' (i.e. a sedan with a fastback profile)?

But people don't want an everyday supercar. And if they do they probably want a trunk, which the NSX doesn't have. Also you forgot the McLaren 570S, not sure if that was intentional or not but it weighs 3100 lb so there's that.

The NSX is considerably smaller than all the cars listed above (though is about same size as 570S).

R8 - yeah I'd rather have this with V10 over an NSX
Huracan - oh look, another V10 (see above)
911 Turbo - I've had no interest in these since they dropped the manual (would buy the GT3 instead, which again is 3100 lb). If I didn't need the cargo space this car offers (roughly 2-3 times what the NSX has) I'd prefer the NSX.
Aston Martin Vantage - TT V8 with manual? weighs less than 3400 lb too b/c apparently the manual is 200 lb less than the auto. See ya NSX
GTR - yeah I'd pick the NSX as well. And yet for some reason a 10-13 year old design still outsold the NSX.

People hate what they can't afford.

The NSX old and new is a dream for me.

Speak for yourself, I'd love an everyday supercar, something I don't have to worry about while driving it and living with it.

2016 911 Turbo weighs 3500lbs. Convertible is heavier.
2016 Audi R8 V10 is 3400lbs. Spyder is heavier.

I think the gripe is that it lost the reliability over the previous model. A twin turbo V6 with three electric motors and a battery that will degrade is not reliable.

The other gripe is that the car is heavier than the other two.

The other gripe is the gas mileage wasn’t improved despite the hybrid system. In fact, the Porsche had better gas mileage.

The other gripe was the hybrid system made the car far less analog. It also made the car seem unnecessarily complex compared to the competition. This wasn’t the case for the holy trinity cars from that time because those cars really maximized their ICE powertrains first and then added electric motors to take power and performance to new levels beyond what most cars were doing besides like Bugatti. The CRZ is like the perfect example of why the NSX sales didn’t do well. Ask yourself why a CRZ doesn’t appeal to you and that is what people think about the NSX who have NSX money.

Hey guys, looks its gonna be a 5 door hatch.....
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...ntegra-teaser/

Kinda looks like an infiniti Q60 coupe from the back...

But i bet its just gonna end up looking like a smaller TLX with a hatch and not a trunk.

And it'll probably only have an automatic transmission available. So, five doors, front wheel drive and automatic......they already lost me at five doors.

Is it possible they're doing both a 2 door liftback as well as a 4 door liftback? That would be even better than the DC2 Integra. I had a sedan and coupe in succession and the sedan with a liftback would have been even better. If they buildt an R Spec model with the Type R mechanicals it could be interesting. I had baby seats strapped in the back of mine. At that time (mid to late 90's), rear wheel drive really wasn't an option unless you were springing for BMW. The 318ti price of entry was approx $5k more iirc. I did actually test drive one but wasn't overly impressed. The sales guy was focused on demonstrating that the car didn't dive heavily on braking. But I had already had a GTI previously, and this was like a more expensive downgrade, frankly.

I wasn't drawn to the RSX at all, however if the spirit of the ITR can be conjured up, keeping it as analog as possible in operation despite all the tech and OLED displays they will undoubtedly package together. That sounds like a compelling proposition. They ARE capable of building a seriously good car given demand and timing.

Hmm, so is this an ILX replacement based on the Civic, or is it based on the TLX?

Feels like the Civic would make sense.

Option 1: 1.5T from the SI and FWD and maybe the 10-speed or the CVT. Priced at under $30K... Basically a Civic but if you want something more stylish. Manual? With FWD it would be possible.

Option 2: 2.0T from the Type-R (or the standard TLX 2.0 - not type r) + SH-AWD + 10-speed for $40~50K depending on features. No manual. Not sure they can fit a manual with the AWD system.
