What engine temp are you seeing those oil pressures?
I'll see 120psi at idle in my car when it's cold, but only 10 or so at operating temp. I have like 40psi at 4000rpm when it's hot.. (redline 5w20 race oil)

thicker oil will surely make a diff here, but that high seems strange.

Yes. Initial built was 3-4 years ago. Manley rods, JE pistons, Ferrea valves and springs and whatever mojo he does with machining. I would have taken the engine back to him but he has since moved to Florida.

Operating temperature taken at the sandwich plate. It does sound high but Element Tuning did alot of R+D on his FRS before he switched to an LS for more speed in TT. That's what sold me on their engines.

100 PSI at test temp/speed with 10w30 feels about right. I reach the oil pressure plateau at around the same speed but it reaches 75 PSI and stays there with 0w20. That's why I focus on controlling temp with my unnecessary oil cooler. I figure I'm safe as long as it sheds enough heat to keep the numbers in line. I should stick a probe in the pan to see how hot the oil gets after it goes through the engine.

I see 115 PSI at idle when it's cold.

random FA24, on the street. Not surprising when you know the context of what they're doing.

100psi seems unusually high, excessive even...

https://www.rymax-lubricants.com/upd...w-to-solve-it/
The ideal oil pressure varies depending on the car brand and model, but generally, the ideal oil pressure is between 25-65 PSI. To an extent, oil pressure is required for the oil to be able to reach all components of the engine, however if the oil pressure reading is outside of this range, it is usually considered too high or too low. Since the oil pressure depends on how much resistance the oil faces when flowing through the passages, factors like the size of the engine, the diameter of the bores, and the viscosity of the oil have an impact on oil pressure. A PSI over 80 is usually considered too high for the engine to properly be protected from damage. High oil pressure is an indicator that the oil is not able to properly pass through the bores and reach all parts of the engine effectively.

I should have been clearer when I said "It feels about right." I meant that it's in range for 10w30 at normal temp. I agree that it's too high.

Proper oil pressure should probably come down to what the builder tells you.

The quoted text there is a generalization, 100psi is not abnormal in some stock motors. My stock K24 with K20A oil pump makes between 95 and 110psi at load and 35-45psi at idle.

No blown engines in 2017 track cars!

I bought my 2022 BRZ based on the success of my two track buddies with their BRZ's. They each have 2000-3000 track miles on their 2017's. The Yellow Special Edition has 11K on it and the white car with PP has 60K.
These guys are instructors and they thrash their cars every event trying to outdo each other.
They have oil coolers, aftermarket exhaust and are both tuned by EFI Logics to 190 HP. They have had no engine issues.
I have an oil cooler. I've done four track days and have 2K on my car.

We are all retired, know how to drive and take excellent care of our cars. They get regular oil changes when raced.

Them at Watkins Glen. If you're in the N-E you probably know them.Name: steve jotham 9.png

The three of us at WGI before they got their BRZ's.
