Be sure to buy the 2' tape one, it's a MUCH better value than the 3 1/2" strips (it's a freaking rip off!). Then you just cut the pieces you need with scissors.

One box should be all you need - and you should be able to Prime it in time for the weekend.
Awesome. Ordered. Prime ONE day even. Thanks johan.

I got the passenger door done Saturday with CLD, MLV and a Rockford Fosgate woofer. I'm a *little* bit proud of myself. Never taken apart anything on any vehicle. Not so scary now.

CCF Sources

I'm finding closed cell foam slightly difficult to find, let alone at a good price, but I found this schtuff at walmart.com:

1/8" closed cell foam for $43.20. That should work... right? Of course I don't need 300ft² though, but it's cheaper than any other place I've found, especially with the free shipping.

Thanks for all of the great feedback everyone. I'm not on here often any more, so if you've got a question, you are probably better off posting in the thread in addition to PMing. If you PM me, I will get back to you, but it could be weeks or months.

Good luck out there, guys!

Thanks for all theses pictures and the great walk-through !

I'm currently doing something similar to my gt86 and was wondering if anyone knows which component is the aluminium box near the rear speaker ?

Is it safe to have some closed cell foam close to it (touching it ?)

Thanks !

I’m not sure what it is exactly off the top of my head but it kinda looks like something that might generate/conduct heat since it looks similar to amps/DSPs so I would personally stay away from putting any CCF on it.

I know this is an old thread but could someone refer me to:

1)where to get these large sheets of MVL (or make and model)
2)thinsulate thickness (or make and model) used?

I see offerings on ebay and amazon but there's so many brands and dimensions etc.

Many thanks

This thread was immensely helpful!

Thank you!

For anyone that is sort of interested in this undertaking, I ended up doing it and it took me about two full days between installing front speakers, sub, amp (including wiring etc). I didn't want to gain too much weight so I used 1/2lb MLV from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Noico CCF (this stuff is really light)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Amazon basics deadener
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also used these behind the front 6.5" speakers. I placed the amazon CLC under it and created a little platform for it to sit on. I used black silicone gasket maker to paste it on, worked great.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Getting a little roller for the CCF and CLC was also pretty useful, but not NEEDED.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did not deaden as thoroughly as op. I used CLC in the trunk. Both doors I used CLC, CCF and MLV. Passenger side & tranny tunnel some CLC, full MLV and CCF. Rear bench some clc, a sheet of ccf on each seat. Used ccf and MLV on tunnel on rear bench. Driver side I just used some ccf.

Sound has been totally transformed and the cabin is actually a different place right now. Gained about ~40-45lbs from deadening materials.

Would recommend 10/10.

Just need to get some weight reduction mods done and the 45lbs will even out.

What I did was take out all the tools + spare tire in the trunk. It might be 20-30 lbs but it helps offset the weight added from the material.

Did you put CCL or MLV on the rear quarter panels? I am not sure if I should fit material to the plastic panel or fill the tire well.
