Back in my day, we had a similar problem with baling wire, iffen the coiled end wasn't bent over. Yep, a nasty scrape from a rusty wire on a vehicle that had been run through a cow pasture could = lockjaw -

Same goes for safety wire on an aeroplane, racing car or motorcycle if the ends are not bent over. Ask me how I know.

Yeah, it’s kind of an inside joke if you worked on industrial equipment and stuff.
