Issues with running a real business lol. Reduce headache and liability as much as possible. Tough situation but completely understandable. |

If you check out our blog, you can see our results and feedback on a huge array of cars, including many Gen.1 86s. (86 reviews are older and tend to be further down if you scroll): https://www.essexparts.com/news-blog If you'd like to watch some videos on how we do what we do, you can see some here. I'd suggest Know Brakes 6 on this page, and the FAQ...actually all the ones on this page. I lay it all out in these. Thanks! https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...ion-brake-kits |

I ran a quick calculation based on Limpert’s book, see below (take with a grain of salt as a did it very quickly). Those were ran with available info from Subaru. |

We've made some great progress this week! We confirmed that we do need a new caliper bracket in order for our Sprint Kit designed for the Gen.1 cars to fit the '22 BRZ. That design is completed and we're trying to see where we can slot it into our manufacturing schedule.
Some may consider this even more exciting...we were able to fit one of our front and rear Radi-CAL Competition Kits on the car! Our front CP9660 option even clears the OEM 18" wheels without a spacer (our front CP9668 kit will require a spacer). Our rear kit also clears the OEM wheel without a spacer and a couple mm to spare. It also retains full parking brake functionality. If you'd like to see the details on the Radi-CAL kits, they can be found in the links below. We may need to do a new brake line, and a few other small tweaks to this system, so please nobody order these with the intent of putting them on your '22 BRZ! Front Radi-CAL Kits Front AP Racing by Essex CP9660/355mm Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit Front AP Racing by Essex CP9668/355mm Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit The only difference between the two kits above is the caliper. You can read about the two caliper options here: Sibling Rivalry: Which AP Racing Radi-CAL is Right for me, the CP9660 or CP9668? The CP9668 option uses a 25mm thick pad...a full inch thick. On one of these cars, you would possibly never need to change your brake pads ever again! ![]() ![]() Matching Rear Kit Rear AP Racing by Essex CP/340mm Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit On to the pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by JRitt; 12-16-2021 at 03:15 PM. |

Wow, that is a LOT of brake for this car. Great stuff, Jeff.

Thanks Pat! It is indeed a lot of brake capacity for this chassis. Many of the bigger, far more powerful cars highlighted on our Essex Blog are running this same setup and winning national championships. Our Radi-CAL Kit will withstand anything a built BRZ/86 can throw at it. You could run a 24 hour race with an LS engine swap, huge twin turbos, etc., and it wouldn't phase our system at all. You know what's really cool though? We are still going to shave considerable unsprung weight vs. the OEM brakes. Despite the huge increase in thermal capacity, our front Radi-CAL 355mm kit weighs about 6-8 lbs. less than the OEM front brakes, and our rear kit will weigh in the neighborhood of 3-4 lbs. less. ![]() |

I'll be sticking to 17's, so interested in whatever you sell for the 22 that will clear 17's. Any estimate on when we can order it? Thanks for the updates.

I believe we have had a few people fit 17's over some of our CP9660/355mm systems on various platforms, but it is a super tight fit. 18's tend to clear no problem, particularly among aftermarket options. Quote:
It looks like we'll still have two front options that will easily fit under many 17's...our 299mm and 325mm CP8350 systems (just like what we offered for the Gen.1 cars). The Radi-CAL system above will be available almost immediately after the new year. The 325mm system will likely be next, and finally our smallest 299mm system since that needs to be reworked more than the others. |
