The same can be asked about the sway bar mounting plates.
Good eye! I was wondering when someone would notice.

I'm going to run the MCA traction mod, the sway bar is something I'll chase out as I may or may not use one. I haven't really decided yet

The MCA mod still needs the stock connection point (it bolts to it). You can use the GP Sport mod - it only uses the subframe bolt (and a few additional bolts to the chassis).

I think somebody used the 2nd gen BRZ sway bar mount in a 1st gen. It might be possible to do the same for your custom subframe (as the 2nd gen BRZ mounts to the chassis using the mounting bolt rather than to the subframe).

I'm sorry, I got the MCA and the GKTech/GP Sport version mixed up.

Thanks for the info on the GR86! I'll dig for some photos, etc.

It's the 2nd gen BRZ that has the new sway bar mount. The GR86 uses the same mount on the subframe as the 1st gen.

The trailing arm goes from the body to the knuckle.

Nope, it goes to the subframe (AFAIK that's the whole point of a subframe - to have the suspension attached to it instead of the chassis (which actually makes the 2nd gen BRZ rear sway bar (attached to the chassis bolt) kinda strange)). Hard to find good pictures showing it, but this one from MCA calls it the crossmember:

Yeah you are right. For some reason I had it in my head that went to a bracket bolted to the body.

Yeah, there's a reinforcement bracket that goes to the body (below the subframe). The GP Sport mod replaces that bracket, effectively connecting the trailing arm pickup point to the chassis instead of the subframe (unlike the MCA mod that keeps it on the subframe).

Newest video is up. I am hoping to get onto the start of the tubular subframe this next week before February.

I have a few loose ends I need to tie up on the daily driver before I can start playing again, but these should be fairly straight forward.

As always, let me know what you guys think!

Another option for the rear sway bar mount with your custom subframe could be this aftermarket mount. It got posted on the new GR86 forum and it might work well in your case.
