Resurrecting this thread

Not sure if this counts exactly, but I got a $2 gachapon R33 GTR model last month in Japan.

Basically if you're not familiar gachapon are like those old-school candy vending machines where you popped a quarter in, spun the thing a bit, and it dropped some candy for you down the slot.

In Japan, gachapons more typically have small toys and such.

In this case, small car models since it's a gachapon thing at the famous car meeting location, Daikoku PA.

Anyway, first time doing one of these:

Pretty easy model. Took me about half an hour since I'm an amateur. They provide two sets of wheels and tires. They also give you a hood prop so you can park it with the hood opened if you want.

Fun little model and they provide a QR code to a video walkthrough in case you're a dumb, like me:

The R32 build I'm working on has been currently collecting dust. LOL. I might try grafting an R34 front bumper onto it. I still gotta finish the opening driver's door.

Latest LEGO model, given to me as a Christmas gift. Saturn V rocket.

It is just shy of 40" tall, and has a lot of detail you can't see. For example, internally each stage has complete "fuel tanks" and representative piping. the Lunar Module (at the base) will fit into the storage space at the top of the third stage (the angled bit between the third stage and the service/command module). It consists of 1969 pieces and weighs several pounds.

It is a 1/110 scale. If you zoom in on the lunar module at its base you can see the astronauts also at the same scale.

I'm going to build a wall case for it and hang it in my home office. There is a stand to display it horizontally, but it's more impressive vertical. (Oh yea, and I was leaning not the rocket, in this photo)

Finally got around to modifying the shelves in one of my IKEA display cases to fit the Saturn V. It now has a permanent home.

Replaced two glass shelves with clear polycarbonate shelves each with a hole in the middle to fit the rocket through.

Have two more display cases to assemble for various other things around the house including a couple First86 things I plan to hold on to.

I did, but the glass was so thin that the first one I cut broke putting it back in the cabinet even thought it had a clean cut in it.
