Anyone still having fitment issues with the PLM Overpipe?
I just ordered one and hope to install it this weekend. With any luck I can perform the "push up while tightening" install method and end up with good clearance and no rattles. I'm beginning to think that is critical to any cat-forward exhaust install. |

Installed mine yesterday along with a JDL UEL header.
![]() This pic was taken AFTER installing 5mm thick washers inbetween the body and all the swaybar mounting bracket bolts. I have a bigger Racecomp hollow front sway bar and wanted as much clearance at possible, so I effectively lowered the sway bar assembly just a tad. I noticed today that it's hitting the frame and making noise when taking a sharp left turn under load and when accelerating from a stop on an incline. It's quiet otherwise. I had someone else push up on it as much as possible with a long pry bar while I tightened it down and I still ended up with maybe 1cm of clearance from the frame. Any ideas on how to get more frame clearance? I'm considering stiffer engine mounts to help.

Hmmm. Maybe it's the header that changes the angle of the pipe. I still have stock header.

I see a lot of talk about the over pipe, but what about the front pipe?

I ended up using home depot exhaust vent insulation (the one that has adhesive on one side and foil on the other) on the frame where the OP is hitting. I used 3 layers of this insulation which cushions the OP when it tries to hit the frame. No more rattles. @Tim_Asphalt_FRS

My OP rattle seems to have mended itself a little bit after a weekend of track abuse. Maybe it got hot enough that when it contacted the frame it dented the pipe and made clearance on its own!
It's not making contact nearly as often as before last weekend. I will try applying a few layers of metal tape to the frame next time I'm under there. |

If someone is looking for some gains in overall sound and loudness of exhaust I think it is a decent and inexpensive, muffler delete option - I think their track pipe is a decent way to go. In fact I expect to order their track pipe in the next few days so I can joyfully drive it around California not being quiet
![]() Plus, it is only $75 + shipping on ft86speedfactory.com. If you want a tip too, you can buy generic ones that will fit into most size pipes. Just google it up |
