I just bought a universal lighting harness from princes auto with a fuse, relay and on off switch built in. that cost me 10 dollars. I know a switch in the car is not the prettiest when it is not designed in an OEM fashion but really, 10 dollars is a lot cheaper than a 100 dollar stalk and a wiring headache.

It isn't a big deal, it just wasn't what I wanted. Good job though on saving the money.

Btw stalk is only $60, not $100. Since I took the headache out of figuring out which wire to use wiring will take what, like 10-15 minutes?

Appreciate the info though, it's good info for someone who wants an alternative to what I did.

60 is better. I saw a few posts talking about 105-100 dollars for the part, which is cost prohibitive. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up going this route because I would like to have the light on the dash work.... I am OCD that way. Now that I know it exists. I want it

however it would render my harness useless in its current form. would need to be rewired.

The price differences are for 2 different stalks. The $60 is for the BRZ stalk, which has an auto headlights spot. The $100 is for the Tundra/Corolla stalk, which does not have an auto headlights spot. Since the FR-S does not have auto headlights a lot of guys prefer a stalk without the auto headlight spot.

All this talk about the auto-headlight spot makes me wonder what it would take to get that working too... might not be too much more -- just a sensor and some wiring probably.

Apparently you have to replace the main body ECU and add sensors. See this thread, post #356:

Anyone know where to source the GT86/BRZ stalk with auto and front and rear fog light switch? I have front fogs on mine and I would like to retrofit the rear fog. Looks like my car is already prewired for the rear fog since I have a fuse for the rear fog, contacts on the empty slot for the rear fog relay and a third wire (yellow) on the reverse light connector in the trunk

If I have a full harness with a relay and a switch, could I tap the switches ground wire and run that that to the "white wire" so when I turn on the switch (and complete the circuit) it will activate the dashboard fog light indicator through the white wire into the BCU?

Hope that question made sense.

That "should" let the switch turn on the fog lamps only when the parking or headlights are on. I think....
Update? Fit and plug n play? (minus wiring out from fuse box)

I just received the switch yesterday. It will be next week before I have time to work on it.
