Right before I drove off to get this log I got another CEL code this one is P0172 which is Bank 1 fuel system running to rich. Also the traction light popped on. This time I'm guessing it's directly related to the P0172 code. Looks like a lot my symptoms match with running to rich like rough idle, increased exhaust noise, and noisy Direct Injectors. And makes sense since I am currently running very rich.

I did have time to do a Block Test which allowed me to rule out blown head gaskets, and cracked heads or block. So that's a relief.

I think im having a similar issue. Started about a week ago. When I go WOT, my boost gauge reads 11 or 12psi boost, and there is really no power. cruising seems fine. no misfires, but its throwing a P0171.

Then all of a sudden it stops and everything is fine, i get 7-8psi and it pulls like a bat outta hell.

its random, i cant seem to make either condition show itself. Car is full stock except for the SC, Im still on the edelbrock tune too.

Is this a bypass issue?

Thanks for responding

Do you have the upgraded bypass value for the kit? All the newer kits if you brought straight from edelbrock have them.

I dont know, got it 2 years ago, not direct from edelbrock.

Do i need to remove the SC to replace this bypass?

Do my symptoms fit the bill? is this a bypass issue?

Also, the tune is terrible, cold start and part throttle suck! it bucks and stutters really bad. Was planning to get it protuned soon

check this post in this thread #2368 (i'm apparently too computer illiterate to link it) for info on checking Bypass valve.. I'm sure you have the older one , but who knows.. and look through this thread on the difference between the two.. get a clear picture.

So quick update on my rough idle situation. I decided to clean the MAF sensor with some MAF spray, attached some worm clamps onto my catch can, tightened all my lines just in case their was a vacuum leak, and cleared my CEL codes. Car seems to be running a lot better no stumbling at idle and power seems to be back better than ever. CEL codes haven't returned and car is around -10 for LTFT during idle. I've put about 100 miles on the car so far this week and had zero issues. Hopefully this fixed everything but I'll keep my eye out for any issues since the rough idle was a intermittent one. Thanks for everyone's help.

I believe you do have to remove the SC due to the bypasses location but I'm not 100% sure since I haven't do it.

As far as cold start and part throttle. I think most people experience the bucking and stutters no matter what when cold starting just due to the SC warming up along with the fluids warming up also. I've experienced it on my tune during cold mornings. Just have to be ginger with the pedal until the car warms up.

Gotta remove it to do the new bypass. Gotta set the gap on the plate inside the intake.

Glad to hear.. Similar story I was working on different things at one time and that lead to me leaving a catch can disconnected. Amazingly it started with jumpy rough idle.. and actually made it about 2-3 miles down a feeder road out of my neighborhood. On the return it died and I coasted it into a station would not start till I looked under the hood and realized the issue. Connected went right back to normal. I can't remember if it was driver or pass side.. But on the same token not sure if that would have logged rich.. so can't rule out a dirty MAF at 160k either.

Won’t start

Well I finished the install on my Edelbrock supercharger and installed the tune. The moment of truth.... and she won’t fire. Even tried the original tune out of frustration.

It sounds like it wants to go. Probably firing on one cylinder every so often.

Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting.

Up until that point the install seemed to go very well.

What is your your boost reading with the ignition on? And what is your elevation?

I’m at 450’. I didn’t get a boost reading yet.

She runs! Pretty rough, no codes.

I tried about cranking it about 15 times to get it to go. It slowly showed progress, so I was thinking it’s a fuel issue getting the rails primed... don’t know

I ran it for a few minutes with a little improvement. Turned it off and was able to restart a few minutes later without issue.

I’ll get a data log to the tuner and report back.

Check around and make sure you don't have any fuel leaks and that you didn't install the Mas airflow backwards.

Plug should be toward the driver side.
