That's just about perfect. If I were to keep the rest of the piping stock, that nameless axleback would be my choice.

Hey Will, thanks for the video! I'm interested to hear more about your impressions of the nameless axleback. I'm looking for something that isn't loud and obnoxious, but just helps me hear the engine a bit more than stock. The video makes it sound pretty mellow. How is it working for you?

After living with it for a few days, I certainly wouldn’t describe it as mellow or mild, but it definitely isn’t too loud or obnoxious. I think it might annoy my neighbors when I start it at 6:30am, but I mostly blame this cars hyper aggressive cold start for that. It seems quieter now than when I first installed, but pretty sure that’s just me getting used to it. For daily use it is just about as loud as I’d want to go, maybe even I’d prefer slightly quieter. I do really like the sound though. Occasionally pops on downshifts, and with the windows down you can really hear the exhaust note change as the revs rise, like a guitar player picking each string. It has a nice deeper rumble at idle, the stock headers are slightly uneven length as I understand so you get a bit of that classic Subaru sound. In cabin with the windows up, the sound gets a bit more muddled, and there is a bit of bassy drone when accelerating between 2500-3000rpm, but not bad. I find I need to play the stereo around 10-11 (using Apple CarPlay) to hear it clearly over the exhaust. On the highway, the tire noise is often louder than the exhaust. At full throttle, the fake sound overpowers the exhaust about 4500rpm, so I’ll have to try turning that off. I will try to capture some more in-cabin footage soon.

Please do. The fake sound is very strong. I'm curious to hear the exhaust and your thoughts with it turned off.

Tuning results with exhaust mods?

Since the track season is over my first area of interest is improving the exhaust and getting a tune and whatever else may be needed to get it tuned.
I have an old Nameless/Cosworth long-runner header... to 2.5" overpipe [/URL]with cat at the end. It's in great shape.
I want to drive the car on the street a little and will swap what is necessary to be state compliant, once that time comes. It has a V-band that allows this swap out of the cat. I want to leave the guts of the engine stock, but would consider any bolt-on mod to increase power and reliability short of a forced induction device.
Has anyone done a header and tune yet or know of dyno results and specifics?

Remark Elite Spec cat-back installed

I had the cat-back installed a couple of weeks ago. Overall, I really love the tone and the feedback makes the car so much more fun to drive. There is some drone when cruising around 2.7k RPM, but doesn't bother me.

I have not turned off ASC yet but might try it soon. For those that have physically disconnected the cable, is it a pain to re-connect? I've seen some videos and seems that the space to access the plug is somewhat tight.

Here's a sound clip comparison video that I uploaded to YT for those that are interested:

I had the Nameless Axleback with the 5" mufflers on a 2017 WRX. May go with these for my new 2023 BRZ!

Yes...it's a total pain in the a$$ to re-connect.

I installed a Nameless axle back with the 5" mufflers, and unplugged the ASC. Took 2 minutes or less. Sounded great before disconnecting the ASC, but was not quite as happy with it disconnected since it was not as loud as I wanted.

Decided to plug the ASC back in to see the difference between the two. Tried for 45 minutes to do so, and was never able to do it. All I did was hurt my fingers trying to plug it back in.

My suggestion would be to take it to the dealer and have them do it. That way, you could always go back and have them make the ASC enabled again.

Great feedback! Thank you for sharing your experience. I haven't been bothered by the ASC sound so will leave as-is until my car goes in for service.

Disconnecting is easy. I want to hear the real engine and exhaust sounds because I race my car. I don't want it masked, distorted or louder.
Reconnecting the ASC plugs should be easy if you have 90° needle nose pliers or hemostats.

I just use my fingers to reconnect it. Takes less than a minute.
